How are these projectors in general, and what about discrete power commands??

I'm not sure if they are great projectors, or everyone else said "no" to being on the website.....ha

ADI carried them for years and used them in their conference/training/meeting rooms.

I never installed any and it's hard for me to say from seeing it in training room environment to tell if they were any good.

I installed one last year- it was OK, for the price. The brightness and contrast weren't amazing, but they aren't video nerds, anyway.

Right on the pulse as usual.....

For what they are, they're decent projector. Are they for home theaters, NO, but commercial they're great. I have one up in an ice rink for the past 2.5 years working perfectly in a below freezing environment. When it's not playing videos, it becomes a scoreboard for the rink.

BenQ does a good job for certain applications. My recollection is they are the first or second largest supplier of dlp projectors in the country.

Not bad projectors for budget installs. They typically have discrete on/off. I've had several running for years with no issues. They have a new 4k unit that looks interesting on paper (but I don't want to be the guinea pig).

Had a demo unit in our showroom for a few years. It failed, we sent it back for out of warranty repair. They couldn't fix it due to a lack of parts. We threw it in the trash.

Had to replace one a few months back and it had a bizarre throw ratio, only options were a couple hoopties or a major modification, opted for the latter.

Before I share my feelings, would uptime or reliability be high on your list of concerns when you are choosing a projector? :)

I have one in my basement from a swap about a year ago. In the first year it started overheating. They fixed it under warranty for no charge. Will I sell it being 1/1 on repair? Probably not. I will say they are bright though, if nothing else.

My input to the Sn@p dealer survey was they needed a piece in the 1999 to 2499 area. The jump from 1399 retail to 3799 with no lens is a joke, missing a great value sweet spot.

Sold several 1080P 8 years ago. Most of them failed after 2-4 years. Could not get them repaired, as they didn't have the parts for repair. BenQ service suggested I replace them and they had a discount on a newer model (to offset the "pain"), but was really not a discount at all vs. buying an new Epson 1080p at DC.

We replaced them, but not with BenQ. Have not sold another since then, so not sure how good they are now. The ones I sold in the day had quirky behavior.
