I have one more thing to bitch about:

Why the hell is it 2018 and customers still have to use the old crusty version of Internet Explorer to view a camera system?

In this age of plastics. Why are dishwashers unable to dry plastic items. Obviously porcelain type products such as plates, bowls and coffee cups hold onto or heat better during the dry cycle. They also tend to not trap water like plastic items. Since so many items are now plastic, why have the washers not changed? Perhaps some type of blower is required to remove excess water before the dry cycle.

The theory I've heard is that it's because IE doesn't have much in the way of bells and whistles, so it's easier ( = cheaper) for companies to make software that runs on it. Besides that, when you're looking at a DVR, you're not exactly looking at a website. Maybe the programming needs are totally different for DVRs.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I think it's because most DVRs/NVRs are made cheap using cheap software made 20 years ago. Seriously...why isn't there an easy good UI out there? They all look like science projects.

Mac, so true.

I was working today with a CVI ( = low cost, for myself) DVR and a motorized camera (zoom and focus, no P or T). To zoom I had to open the PTZ menu. Looking at the controls, I found I could zoom with Zoom, Focus with Focus, and IRIS + put the camera into MENU mode. You'd edit MENU mode by hitting... IRIS + again.

Yes, I called the sales people's tech person. I simply could not have imagined it would work that way!

Internet ads are stupid.

I was gifted a Dell laptop. It works pretty well, except the battery doesn't hold a charge. So I go online, locate the battery, buy one.

Internet ads appear. Now that I have no need to buy a battery for that laptop, I see plenty of them advertised. This is the moment when a laptop battery ad has the LEAST possible chance of being successful. Good thinking, guys!

I wonder if the theory is that "the person sees that ad and thinks, I might be able to get it for less there!". If it is less, they buy it and cancel the original order. Maybe there is a very small percentage of people that do it and web ads are cheap. I'm thinking it 'might' work.

At the main home we have a GE dishwasher that's at least 30 years old. Stainless in and out. Dries everything.

At the beach home we have a Bosch that's all of 2 years old. Stainless in and out. Dries nothing.

Do some research and you'll find that most European dishwashers don't have drying elements, and most people in the US complain because they have no clue.

WTH do people selling their old car, think it's worth more than NADA, and what a similar, but in much better condition costs?

Went to look at a car today. Guy is asking $4,200.00, NADA full retail, is $4,100.00.

As I look it over, it is way too obvious that this car has not been taken care of, so in POOR condition, the value is about $3,000.00 at full retail, and maybe $2,000.00 "Private Party".

He admits that the dealer offered $1,500.00 on trade in.

I asked "Didn't that tell you something?".

He'd probably answer that dealers always try to cheat everyone and will want to turn around and sell the car for what it's worth: $5000.
