We need to flush wall mount an iPad mini. We don't normally do this but client is requesting it.

What is the best option out there right now? I saw the iport and it looks nice.

We don't have an outlet nearby, but we do have a bank of light switches nearby.

We don't want to run wires all over the place, so something that can be hard wired to the electrical in the switch boxes would work best unless there are other options.

Thanks.

I assume you mean surface mount, but they're so shallow they're nearly flush anyway.

The iPort is great. I installed one where there was a bank of wall switches nearby, and it all works but it's not the prettiest.

Your next step is to take off the switch cover plate and be sure there's a neutral in there! Many switch panels are hots and switch legs only, with no neutrals.

What I did was use one empty decora spot for an outlet, where we plugged in the proper power supply for the iPad Mini 4. We used the iPort surface mount.

The surface mount is built to have the power lead go inside the wall, since iPort's idea is to use POE from behind. I filed a notch in the bottom of the iPort and fed the power lead out there. (This is NOT to be removed and replaced!)

The iPad is mounted about two inches above the power supply. A 3/4" hole plug from Doug Mockett allowed me to stuff the power slack (the LV side) inside the wall.

One detail -- my vendor only stocked the unit with the POE supply and POE converter, which added more than a hundred dollars to the cost. I could get the unit without that if I waited two weeks. Instead I bought the first unit; held onto the supply and converter; put the supply and converter into the box with the second one when it arrived; got a refund on the higher price. I had to explain it three times but I got it done.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Just installed one yesterday.

Easy to install and I thought reasonably priced.

You could fish in an outlet from the switch bank provided there is 120V in the box and wire as per instructions (30 mins of work).

We had to do the same thing but we installed the receptacle and LV ring on the other side of the wall that was conveniently hidden in a bathroom.
