Would anyone be able to send me a pic of the mounting hardware that comes with the R600?

Client has drop ceiling with normal T Bar but the tiles themselves protrude about a 1/2" inch lower than the T Bar.

Client doesn't want the mounts posing an issue to the way the tiles set on the T Bar.

I can't find any info on their site either. I just want to make sure that we don't need to order any extra material to perform such a simple task.

TIA

I can check, i think i have a 500 in stock. But the way the mounting clip is the tiles are going to be a problem

can you mount the AP to the ceiling tile and reinforce it with a thin piece of aluminum or Luan plywood? (sandwich the tile)

Thanks, I was afraid of that. From what I can remember, the mounts that come with them are kind of like the ones that Aruba ships with their AP's.

As for mounting into the tile, that was my first suggestion if the included mounts didn't work. Of course, client is against it and couldn't explain as to why. My guess would be for ease of adds/changes/moves/etc. They want that quick-connect type solution.

They were originally going with Aerohive, but they don't have a great mounting system either, so client said "we'll go with your solution if they have good brackets".

Seriously....

Thanks Rob

That's what I ended up sending him an hour or so ago. I was hoping to find some pics of it installed on a comparable ceiling. No dice though.

Tell him the metal of the T-Bar interferes with the WiFi signal. That mounting it in the middle of the ceiling tile, gives it its best range and reception.

Let him spend hours searching google to prove or disprove that one :)

Is the area above the dropped ceiling being used as the plenum? If not why not install the AP above the drop ceiling? No one has to look at the unit and the customer won't have to worry about a hole in his ceiling tile.

There would be a few factors that would need to be considered before doing this.
1. Is the area being used as the plenum (return air)
2. what is the structure above this area
3. How opposed is the customer to having the AP mounted on the ceiling tile
4. What is the range the AP needs to reach

There would also have to be a signed document stating that this installation isn't recommended and may diminish network connectivity, but if the customer agrees to this then why not make the customer happy. Maybe you need to install two APs to cover the same range as what the one would cover in an optimized installation.

If the area above is not Plenum, use a plastic access panel and place the AP above.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

You wouldn't even require the access panel as they are dealing with a drop ceiling so access will always be available.

Above the drop is plenum, so sticking with mounting below. Pulled the trigger this morning to just order one and bring it to him to check out.

If they like'em, I got 20 of these bad boys to order total.

Trying to sway him towards a Zone Director, but we'll see. He would like to try Unleashed first to see how the performance is.
