I'm at the age now with my kids where I want to start REALLY monitoring what their are doing on the web. My previous router let me set schedules for individual Mac addresses but I'm after more than that.

Also, within the last few weeks I've upgraded my mismatched system to an Edge Router Lite and an AP-AC-Pro. I'm very pleased with how much better my network is working now.

A friend of mine told me about the Circle and it's really cool that you can limit time for each device on specific sites, like Facebook or YouTube, and assign bed times and such.

I havn't taken the time to fully explore (nor donI even understand yet) all of the Edge Router Lite's features. Can it do things such as I've described? I'm hesitant to add something like the Circle as I'm concerned that it'll reduce the performance my network now has.

Thanks.

Craig

Hi,

I worked with it just a little at my daughters home.

She got it on a recommendation from a friend.

One thing you need to check.

At first glance it seemed like restrictions were on a device basis.

You added users and specified what they could do and when.

But then it said to associate devices to users and when I went to do that I could not find a way to share a device.

For example the kids have an Xbox so my daughter wanted different restrictions based on who was using it.

But I never found a way to make that happen.

BUT like I said I was very short on time and wasn't able to do any research.

I thought XBox restrictions were determined in each account during account setup.

Got me. I've never used one.

It was just an example of not being able to find a way to have a single device shared among users.

Maybe it can be done but it was not obvious in the limited time I had - I was literally packed traveling home and walking out the door when my daughter asked me to take a look.

This is $5.99 per month, $9.99 per month with no commercials.

I keep saying, every company just wants to get ten bucks a month from everybody because that' enough money.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Eric Smith (C4 founder) has experience with it. He has switched to Router Limits. I JUST got a review today from network guru Bjorn Jensen who now swears by Router Limits. I'll try to get that posted tomorrow.

A couple months ago, Bjorn wrote fondly about OpenDNS as an option, but now he's swung over to Router Limits.
