Have one that is singing happily along. Like to back up the content to a network computer.
Trying Windows Explorer (Win 7). Can't highlight the entire "Content" folder, copy and paste. Maybe too many files/too many megabytes?
Tried to copy blocks of content at a time. Sometimes it will do a block, other times the Paste function starts the process and then it just ends with nothing accomplished.
Is there a better way? DOS command line "COPY //NETWORK/FIREBALL/CONTENT C:BACKUP/FIREBALL/CONTENT?
I'm sure you've done it and are laughing now. Where is CP/M when I need it?
One of my clients has a Request server and after ten years, he thinks it's time to move on to newer technology and possibly a NAS. He said it's no big deal to load the music again, since he has all of the discs and I disagreed about that.
I have one of the same model/smaller drive (thanks to their wonderful "You need to buy two in your opening order" BS), and since I have been thinking along the same lines about moving on, I asked a similar question here. While that thread was ongoing, I knew that if I click the Start button, Computer and then Network, I would see the server in the list of devices and when I right-click that, one of the options was 'Open'. I saw a list of folders and clicked on the one that seemed like it would have the music files and in this case, it shows Best, MP3s, Pictures, Share and Upload. Since I don't want to move the MP3s, I chose Best and when I opened it, I saw three folders, one with what looks like a name, in Hex. I clicked on that and saw all of the Artist names. When I clicked on one, I saw the CD title and then, the song titles after clicking on the CD titles. I right clicked one of them, selected Copy and Pasted it to my desktop. I also had the option of sending it to a media player and when I have the time, I'll move my music to my external hard drive with Windows Media Player and see how it goes.
