Does anyone know if the Doorbird's o1 and o2 electric door opener connections are normally open or normally closed? I would like to connect to a car gate that is normally open, i.e., it has 2 wires that when touched together open the gate.

NO.
If your car gate is already powered by its own 12v then the DB will mimic your touch of those two wires.
If you want a wiring schematic for other configurations let me know.
