So now that I've had a pretty good network training class where we discussed many things that Luxul products do, I gotta ask: Do you have problems with Luxul product? How well does the company stand behind the products?

I know, there have been lots of posts about lots of brands; I'm looking for the latest, if you could.

Thank you.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

We first started out using a few of their APs and they didn't work well. We had constant drop-outs in all types of homes and coverage wasn't great. We stopped using them for a while but decided to use one of their POE switches 6 months back. The switch ended up being bad out of the box. We probably will not be using their product anymore.

I have seen many positive posts about them the last month or two on various sites, thought. Might be worth a shot for you.

I have not had any issues with their routers or switches, but that is a small sample size of devices. Their wifi hardware was always disappointing.

They don't offer anything special over any of the other companies.
They are at the top of the price range for the product they offer; that makes them not such a great value. Even Araknis has a little better value then them - that's saying something.
The product itself has been love/hate with a lot of dealers. That has kept me away from even trying them.

We're done with Luxul. We used a few of their controller AP systems. The ones with the 1510 AP's weren't so bad, the 1210's were unreliable.

Use them only if you don't mind rolling the dice whether they'll be stable or not.
That's pretty much the scoop. I know some will swear by them and say they've had no issues but any Luxul piece i've ever installed was replaced no too long after.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it works for a while and out of nowhere has issues.
Do a Luxul search on here and you'll see both sides of the story.

My exposure is limited, but I have a Luxul XWR-1750 and compared with the ATT Arris for U-Verse, it's a painless experience. Not cheap even at the training seminar price, but so far, it has worked flawlessly and my devices NEVER disconnect. My iPhone dropped it multiple times, every day, from close proximity. I can be two houses away and stay connected with usable speed and throughput with the Luxul.

I was using UBNT, Aruba and Pakedge. Last year we added Luxul. We no longer do Pakedge or UBNT.

It has been rock solid for us other than a few minor things.

About a year ago, when they moved to the 4.0 firmware, the router would not get its DHCP address from the modem after a power outage. This was fixed in the 5.0 firmware.

When they rolled out XWC3100, they have had some serious issues. I ended up putting in three and all three died within hours. They would stop outputting wifi. Sadly Luxul knows there is a problem and they are keeping these on the shelf.

Other than that, I have not had a single issue. Their gear has been great.

Luxul does not make anything. Their routers are Asus or TrendNet, their switches are TrendNet, and their WAPS are Engenius. It is all just firmware with Luxul. They just have someone OEM their product to spec.

Read the latest 5.0 release notes Known Issues:

-"There are a few Help Info typos or incorrect word usages"
-"Software Policy has some incorrect characters in it"

That should tell you enough. There is better performing network gear at WAY better prices out there.

Haha! Yep, those are the ONLY fixes.
I'm not a fan, if it matters.

I doubt most of the hardware companies make anything- I used one TrendNet WAP (which took a long time to set up, for some reason) and it puked after an hour- the first tech support guy was useless, so he finally got a "supervisor", who asked a few questions and quickly told me it was dead. I replaced that with an Engenius EAP300 and it was in the same case, it looked, felt and smelled the same (smelled like burned electronics), but it took a few minutes to set up and it has been flawless for close to five years.

You cannot name one product on here without getting polar opinions. Just say Integra or RTI or SONOS and see what happens. It is like a political discussion. Rhetorical and pointless. :)

We used the XBR4400 routers for about 3 years and there are at least 2 dozen of them we have in the field. I had issues with 3 of them that turned out to be an easy fix once I knew the problem. There was no documentation that mentioned that you cannot have spaces in DHCP reservation names. It would let you enter them that way and apply it. And then the network would crash and I had to default the routers and set them back up. The 1st I thought was a fluke, the second I started to worry, and the 3rd I finally called tech support, which was able to tell me the problem immediately. Eventually they updated the firmware so now it will not let you do that.

I have the ABR4400 router at home with the 1208 POE switch and a 1510 AP. I have had zero issues with it in nearly a year. I have never had to reboot any of it even. I have only had to reboot the cable modem (Motorola 6183) 2 times that I can recall in that time frame.

We only started using Araknis routers for the OVRC features. We have been using UniFi access points, but have put a couple of the 700 APs in from Araknis and have had good results with them as well. I actually have one at home in the place of the Luxul 1510 now and have noticed no difference between the 2, but my house is small and only requires a single WAP and I cannot get farther than 40 feet from it and still be inside.

YMMV is the term I think that applies here.

The trainer mentioned how flabbergasted he was when he discovered that you can't have a space in the reservation names. He had to relearn that several times I can understand there being quirks like that. I can understand them not thinking to mention it, since A LOT of people NEVER put spaces in any system name for anything. I have a hard time with them not slipping a piece of paper into the manual... oh, yeah, you have to read the manual, the trainer says... anyway, into the manual to remind us that not all equipment can accept names that are more like language than like computer code.

He also pointed out that failure is more likely in general if you mix brands in a system. Those with Luxul failures: are all the parts of the network Luxul product?
