As a viable alternative to the Logitech streaming platform, S1Digital has now adopted the ickStream streaming architecture and will be rolling out new product-line with new software at a date to be announced.

S1Digital will be utilizing the services of ickStream to implement streaming music access for a range of music streaming hardware products. The ickStream Music System on the other hand, will provide access to music streaming services through its unified access API.

Updates for existing S1Digital hardware will be automatic and will require no intervention on the part of existing users. For customers with legacy S1Digital devices, S1Digital will remotely perform the updates and at no cost to the consumer.

For additional info on this topic, we encourage our dealers and DIY enthusiasts to call our tech. support professionals at 201-402-1920 ext.102.

Nice spam.

Like S1Digital is huge in these parts. Never heard of them.

You can buy ads on this site by the way.

S1 digital makes a very nice Vortexbox and it looks like they will convert to whatever ickstream is for free.

They are actually pretty well known, and have pretty good support. We have one in our showroom that had some software issue way out of warranty and they offered to fix it for free.

But yes, probably spam.

Like the other gentleman said, S1Digital is a pretty well known platform in our industry. And been around for awhile now.

Don't think this felt like spam at all to me.

Yeah, it's spam:

*Writer has only one post
*Writer has not contributed anything at all in the way of technical advice or questions answered
*Writer does not identify himself in his profile as being part of the company that he's recommending so highly
*Last sentence tells where to call for more information and refers to "our dealers and DIY enthusiasts"

We respect and appreciate members who have something to sell if we can see that they're not just here to grind on us to buy. Notables who come tom mind who have shown how it should be done are Brentm, Fred Harding and Jeff at Zektor. They have given advice that does not specifically work toward them making a sale; they have come here to ask questions, not just shill stuff; and we all know they have things to sell because they have told us so.

ickstream is an unfortunate name. It sounds like it might have brothers ewwstream, perhaps grossstream or even DAMN!stream....

FYI: These are software engineers with extensive background in streaming architecture, design and implementation, and some of them have worked on the logitech platform in the past.

Don't be shy, introduce yourself! S1D attempted video back in 2008-2009, and their music devs are on par with Fusion, ReQuest, etc... Tell us what sets you guys apart (or perhaps you already did...)!

Edit- "ickStream" won't sell itself to users.

On this web page, the box "Learn More" makes the page scroll down three inches. Oh. My.God. It took software engineers to make "Learn More" accomplish the astounding task of scrolling down. A bit.

Still smiling.

What you are looking at is a "1 page website" or "Scrolling home page website". This means that the entire site is on 1 page that can be scrolled.

I personally hate this industry trend but...

The reason people like it (besides it being a fad/trend) is that websites aren't just built for your computer/monitor. 3 inches on your device might be 12 inches on another. Or the Learn More button might be a "Contact Us" button that takes you to the bottom of the page where they might have a contact form.

S1Digital has been around a long time. We installed an HTPC for a client back in 08 or 07. It was able to rip Blu-rays and the process was pretty painless compared to other HTPC/DIY solutions. Obviously no where near as easy user friendly as kscape but also not as expensive.

As far as ickstream or whatever this post is about...am i correct that this is basically another Sonos competitor? The only "problem" to be solved with Sonos is price. If you can provide a Sonos like experience with less expensive hardware then you have something for us to pay attention to.

To be clear...if you had a $100 box that was like a connect but maybe the user experience isn't as smooth...it might work. But if that same box were $300 then no one will buy it. If the user experience is the same or better and you wanted to charge the same as Sonos then no one will buy it because Sonos is a household name...but you might be able to sell an apples to apples solution for half of what Sonos sells for.

There is money on the table somewhere for everyone so don't let us ridiculous TV installers crush your dreams.

S1 is a good company. But their reliance on the LMS platform made us a bit nervous and we found other options. But if this new platform is solid, I'd love to use their stuff again.

The big difference is S1 still has a 1 button cd ripping ability. Some of our customers still have their CD collections and want the quality. Granted, these are becoming less common, but they still are around

Hi Don,

I am actually with S1Digital and we're trying to spread the word about this impending roll-out. Quite pleased to find people who know about us in this forum.

In answer to your question, I'd rather speak in terms of what we have to offer our customers without drawing comparison: Proven history of product reliability; excellent support system; Compatibility with control systems such as Elang, Control 4, Savant, URC, RTI, Niles etc.

ickStream does not provide services directly to users but does facilitate audio streaming directly from commercially available streaming services just like Logitech Music Server. We feel the need to have alternative streaming platform for a variety of reasons.
