I don't get the "i need coffee to wake up" nonsense. It reminds me of these heroine addicts that used to work for my uncle as day laborers cleaning up roof tear off debris. They needed that hit to begin work and another at lunch time and one after work and i assume they spent their daily pay on it all night until it started allover the next day.

Wake your lazy @ss up and get moving. Quit being Jaun Valdez's b!tc#.

Try sitting at a computer 10 to 14 hours a day, 365 days a year, for a decade or more. A nice legal stimulant might be a lot more appealing at that point.

I have bed sores on both @ss cheeks because i spend 2/3s of almost every day for the last 10 years sitting in front of a computer. And when i am not in front of a computer i have a laptop and ipad with me because it isn't uncommon for me to have to pull the car over and remotely troubleshoot or test a system on the side of a road.

Never needed coffee or energy drinks. A guy i work with used to drink 4-8 cups of coffee a day and then one day he just stopped and guess what...he woke up the next day and then the next and never looked back. It's an addiction just like smoking (i smoked for ten years) and fast food (3 weeks clean but still battling this because their is an arby's within walking distance of my house).

Great example. I started smoking in my 20's. As a teenager i hated cigarettes and even broke up with a girlfriend who started smoking. In my 20's i spent a lot of time at construction sites where everyone headed out for a smoke break constantly and i eventually joined in. I smoked for about 10 years. The first 5 years sucked and the second 5 years i spent trying to quit.

One thing i remember about them is that at 3 AM if a girl called me and said "come over" i would tell her "im sleeping" because i was too lazy to drive. But if i ran out of cigarettes i couldn't sleep until i went out and bought a pack. Then i would get home...smoke one and fall right to sleep like all was right with the world. When your addiction gets you out of bed but a booty call doesn't...something ain't right.

The way i quit was i just stopped hanging out with my friends and family that lived nearby. That was the only way i could do it. It has been years maybe 10 now since i quit and i still think about smoking every day every time i eat or leave the gym or wake up. Even to this day if someone offers me a cigarette i usually give in and smoke one. Back in January i went to a job site out of town and found myself standing on a dock at 2 AM smoking a cigarette because the IT guy had a pack and offered me one. I have to avoid family gatherings if smokers show up because i know i will take them up on their offer. I cant understand why they are legal or how something so repulsive can be so addictive.

Lots of valid points and good. However, we live in a country with freedoms. Freedoms to choose, freedom to make the choice whether right or wrong. EXACTLY the way it should be. There are too many laws and freedoms that are already stifled all in the same "its better for the people". I always thought that was funny. That said, if you smoke, you SHOULD pay more for insurance.

In our country, insurance is the mechanisms by which such things get sorted out really. It ends up coming down to, are you willing to pay for the thing and pay for the other costs of the thing. Of course coffee isn't in that realm, at least so far.

I don't consider coffee an addition. It's not like I drink five cups a day. It's actually quite enjoyable to have a cup of coffee with a bran muffin in the morning. Or maybe have one with a small candy bar or pastry over in the evening. It's definitely not something I choke down because I feel like I need it to operate. I enjoy it.

But of course it does help with keeping focused. In my business, it's not 2/3rds of the day, it's all day, every day, and it's running the brain reactor at 105% of capacity almost all of that time for me. It's draining.

When I was still in Silicon Valley I could go out for a walk almost every day around sunset, which helped a lot. Here in SC, mostly it's only tolerable on a regular basis for a couple months in the spring and a couple in the fall. A lot of the time, I wouldn't go outside if you paid me money, which truly sucks.

One of the perks of being an employee is that you get the last 1/3rd of the day to sleep. The other 16 hours belong to someone else though.

Typing this as i wait for my girlfriend to come out of hair cuttery while on hold with a tech in Florida who im talking through troubleshooting steps with a shade that isnt moving.

There you go again. You tend to convey your superiority. It's seen through, however, for what it is (possibly inferiority complex? Lack of self worth? Low self esteem? The list is long. Take your pick).

For the record, as you spout your better-than-you attitude, Ive lived abroad, have taken the non-beaten path in far corners of the earth. I will add, on my own dime as well. So next time before you judge and take an open-mouth-insert-foot approach, please step off the high horse and open your eyes just a tad bit more. You are actually more clueless than you really believe. You often prove it right here in this forum. Did you expect a curtsy from the North Carolinian's? I bet you did. You actually make me chuckle a bit. And right on cue, as expected. You're so predictable. And for that, I thank you.

Do i think i am personally better? nope. Do i think my country is a better place to live than the United States? yep. For a multitude of reasons that don't revolve around allowing anyone who wants to be, to be an asshole. This thread was civilized until you popped up with your antagonistic bumfugg comments. Despite however well traveled you think you are (on your own dime) you severely lack knowledge of the world outside of the land of "Freedom and Freedom". This is something you have shown time and time again. I assume most of your time abroad was spent screaming USA USA at foreigners in their own land and wondering why everyone doesn't speak Murican. I actually have no problem with America as such, despite the differences, just people who blindly shove their hyper patriotism down other peoples throats like the USA is the best at everything, no matter what. For the record, the most common comment i got from the folks in NC was how relaxed and easy going i was.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

LOL. But don't you love when assholes make assumptions, and they just make you laugh? You make me laugh. And laugh a lot. Thanks for proving once again how little you know. You've conjured up a preconceived notion of who and what some people are but only proved you're a typical stereotyping flag waver who puts himself in the exact same mold that you accuse others of being. You might need a little love in your life. Maybe start with a dog? Possibly a cat. Something.

Thanks again for the chuckle. Now, back to my tasty coffee,,,, After all, taste is just opinion, no? Or is it that opinion, to you, is "only my opinion is right". Yes, that appears to be it.

Also thanks for sharing your "opinion" of the american psyche. Sad you live in a such a small box. It really closes in your mind and doesn't allow you to see things properly. But, that happens with closed minds that have already made up an unaltering world of their own. Oh I can just hear you now as you go back to your homeland (which I'm sure is a wonderful place, of which I happy to see you have so much pride in. Good! Good thing for sure) and talk about how those crazy Americans are, how feeble minded and blind to the world they are. All the while cementing your own clueless ideology as your nonsense espouses on.
