I was thinking of trying main 131but's a but further than i wanted to go. My Uber driver had a couple of good suggestions for good BBQ.

Fins, i just asked the waitress to bring me something that people specifically come here for. She brought me the meatloaf.

Give the Cajun Yard Dog a chance if you have time. It's a small place but really good.

Hooters has decent wings, and generally damn fine looking gals working there, but nothing else...

Three hours away, at the beach, where there is some excellent, and fresh seafood joints.

Come on down....

I'd love to but have a definite scheduling issue with anything 3 hrs away.

I didn't actually think much of the wings at Hooters. Waaaaay too much vinegar in the wing sauce.

You didn't get them hot enough then. Get them hot enough and you cannot taste anything what with the fire in your mouth.

I'm sitting in Dish as i type this. Not bad Fins. Good suggestion for a cheap and cheerful place. Just starting the chocolate and pecan pie.

I went to hooters for a snack yesterday. Bit of a stitch up.

nice pick with the chocolate pecan pie.

I just remembered another place. I haven't tried it yet, but hear it's good. If you want to try authentic soul food, check out Mert's Heart and Soul.

Last night I went to Midwood Smokehouse just around the corner from Dish because the Uber driver that took me to Dish recommended it. Excellent place and wait was about 25 minutes. Loved the bacon wrapped jalapenos and the burned ends for mains. If you have not been there I recommend it.

I'm going to head back to Dish tonight to try something else, but also to get another slice of the chocolate pecan pie.

Fins, we may dissagree on a lot of things but Dish was a great pick.
The meal of the trip was thier potroast. So cheap too.

The one thing i missed most during the trip was coffee. American coffee is liquid road tar, even the stuff that is supposed to be good like Starbucks. I didn't manage a single coffee i could take more than a couple of sips of. Reminded me of the coffee in Germany which was also undrinkable.

Starbucks coffee is shit, all of it. Tastes horrible and gives me a headache.
I do have to say that on the down low as I live in the Seattle area...
Want good coffee, go to Duncan Donuts or Cracker Barrel.

personally, i like the strong, bitter tasting starbucks coffee.

Simon, i would imagine that the coffee is just different than what YOU call coffee. As such, im sure many would find what ever type of coffee you drink down in bumfugg equally appalling.

I haven't tried their pot roast. Their chicken and dumplings is my other favorite item. But I didn't recommend it because I thought it might be too American, kind of like peanut butter and jelly.

I'll have to try Midwood. I'm always interested in a good BBQ joint.

+1 Starbucks highly overrated
By me the best coffee is at a place called the coffee shop. http://www.coffeeshopthewoodlands.com/
Still not as good as getting it fresh in Columbia though

You mean Columbia, S Carolina, or Colombia the country?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Coffee in Columbia the country is usually very good. But I'm sure not many will ever choose to find out.

Starbucks blonde roast is less bad than the overroasted stuff they normally push. But a good local coffee shop will almost always show Starbucks to be the crap that it is.

Dunkin Donuts and Cracker Barrel? That aint coffee.
