I need to start asking to find out who exactly is doing this here and posting photos with their company names on it because it gets me jacked up. It happens more often than it should.

It could be the "interior doucheb.....I mean decorator" who calls these shots though, but the painter should no better than to listen to that B.S.

I go in to do my work, and they had painted the whole place. Well, they painted over some, not all, of the wall plates. Most were blanks. And I mean exactly that. Paint on roller, roll on wall, over plates, pretending they were not even there.

Also, while they are at it, they might as well mask off the vendor logo on the wiring panel, and paint that without removing it, making sure the paint perfectly clogs the screwheads up.

If I ever catch them in the act, there will be words exchanged. I will not be politically correct either.

What makes you think they'll understand your English?

You should be on the project I'm on right now. Couple of the painters are smoking hot girls. As long as they keep wearing those skin tight jeans to work, we don't care what they do. :)

They understand "sailor English" just fine.

Blank wall plate usually means junction point or abandoned box. If no one made a point to tell the painters not to paint them in i don't think they are at fault. I would extend that to speaker grills too. Painters are there to paint not to unravel the mysteries of construction. And since its rare to find a union painter or similarly skilled painter on the job its less likely that you will have someone say to themselves "i wonder if there are any special rules for painting these speaker grills".

Plates with jacks on them, devices like security or hvac keypads etc is a different story. In this area the only thing i have had to deal with is when they are too lazy to remove the device and they just paint around it causing the device to be "painted in". Then when i go to uninstall the device it jacks the paint job up. I used to spend way too much time trying to work around their screw up. Today i just uninstall the device, reinstall it and let the builder or client know what they did to screw it up and that they need to come back and repaint the right way.

This reminds me of a job once where we had the builder leave our control room alone. Bare studs. We put in a 1' tall strip of half inch drywall around the bottom of the wall. Then we built the rest of the room with 3/4" MDF so we could mount anything anywhere. We even routed the MDF so that it would sit over the drywall edge to make it clean. Drywall guys came out and taped between the MDF and sheetrock and tried to build up the 1/4" difference. We showed up just before the second coat of mud and we then spent the rest of the day scraping that crap off the wall and sanding the dry joint compound off. What a pita.

What?
This is the first post and you're referring to "this here." What? Where? When? Posting photos where?

Come on, give us enough information for us to be outraged right along with you!

~~~
Wall plates. Yeah. Painters won't take 'em off, in general. I haven't seen them paint over plates yet. I've seen drywallers mount drywall over a plastic construction ring. That 1/2" bump in a 2 foot wide wall? Well, that must have been on purpose!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
He did give us enough information.
Here he explains that it happened on the project he was referring to.
I go in to do my work, and they had painted the whole place. Well, they painted over some, not all, of the wall plates. Most were blanks. And I mean exactly that. Paint on roller, roll on wall, over plates, pretending they were not even there.
"Here" means the project hes working on. Hes saying he should get the painters name/contact details/photos of the screwed up paint job and make it all public in an effort to shame them out of business.
I disagree with your interpretation.
I still remember the painter that cut off all my cables hanging out of walls in about 9 rooms on a 400k job. He left me an average of a foot of cable at each location including cutting all the ends off the HDMI cables in place. He felt a foot gave me plenty to make all my connections and they no longer were long enough to interfere with his painting.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.
You should have gotten really sweaty and greasy and made sure to leave hand prints all around the wall plates. "Sorry mr.client but it couldnt be helped because i had to work so closely to the wall"
