You have been tracked and sold several times today already. So have we all. No reason to get wadded up about it. Blame it on the rain. :P

Haven't we mentioned several times that it is a good idea to connect a TV to the internet only when you're updating it?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Even if you were to have a screen warning you. You would have to select agree for device to work. Is that not common with many devices, apps, and software?

Consumers have power, they just need to be able to go without until the manufacturers feel the strangle hold.

This is not news or even a secret, several years ago Vizio told their shareholders that this was the reason for including Smart Apps in their products.
What Vizio got fined for was not that they did (all Display/STB Makers do), but that they did not disclose it in their product manuals.

As stated above: if you think that anything or everything that you watch, download or otherwise enter into your search bar is not tabulated, correlated and sold, you sir are an Idiot, excuse me I actually mean a Naive Idiot.

Wait until the new comcast system comes on line. Rolling out in CA and the NW now. I dare you to find an opt-out clause.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Go cash and live in the woods and hope the town your closest to does not have security cameras and you might be able to stay "off the grid"

One could keep the TV offline and use off-air reception. Don't ever update the TV's firmware using its network connection because the TV could be storing all of your use data, then file its report during the next update.
