Does anyone recognize this satellite and buried sub?  System seems to consist of 6 satellites, one buried sub and a single crown amp.  Only one sat was actually visible... all the others are overgrown and completely hidden by landscape so there might be more that 6?

As best as I can tell, turning the left channel on the amp down seems to control volume on half the speakers and turning the right channel down on the amp seems to control volume on the other half of the speakers.  3-4 sats are not working or blown so it's a little difficult to tell.

Subwoofer seems active whenever gain on either amp channel is increases so my best guess is that it's a stereo system (not mono) and all the satellites wire back to the sub which probably has a high-pass crossover for the satellite speakers.

The sats are really small... maybe 3"-4" diameter driver.  Amp and subwoofer seem ok, but I'll need to replace all the sats because most are either not working or blown.

That looks like the stuff and confirms that the standard kit contains 1 sub & 6 sats.

Website doesn't have a working link to install guide and the spec sheets that are available don't have much technical information.

Can anyone confirm that both left & right amp channels feed into the sub and then sats all wire back to the sub?  The literature states that the small 3" satellites have "full range" drivers, but I'd expect some type of high-pass crossover is included in the subwoofer.

Just trying to understand how it's wired so I can come up with a proposal to replace/upgrade.

Lemme pull my sheets from James. Maybe it says in there. I'll email you what I find!

That description is similar to the Sonarray from Sonance, SnapAV's sat/sub and most of the others. I think Niles has one, too and at least one of them uses passive crossovers but most use the DSP in the Crown amp. IIRC, Sonance or Niles has a lower-priced set that definitely uses passive crossovers and doesnt come with an amp or if it does, the amp doesn't have the DSP.

Is it a Crown CDi-series amp? If it is, you determine how the speakers are wired when you set up the amp. The presets are made to support different speaker/sub configurations. There are probably 2 dozen or so presets, IIRC, and they're listed in the manual. That's one of the manuals that always refer to when I'm setting those up because I'm a bit paranoid about screwing it up (it seems like the potential is there).

With the snap system I put in, the sub was 8ohm and the speakers were 70v. So the speakers went back to the amp, and the sub had a run back to the amp. The crown amp had a mode that put channel 1 in 8ohm and channel 2 70v.

If it is a CDI 1000, 2000, etc this is what I would expect. 70v to the sats on one channel, 8 ohms to the sub on the other.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Right- the transformer for full frequency response to the sub would be big, heavy and expensive.

Brendon correctly identified the manufacturer at Napa Sound Labs and he emailed some additional information, but their website doesn't have any technical or installation information available.

I was wrong about the amp... looked back at some photos and it's not a Crown, it's a QSC CX302V which doesn't have DSP and is strictly 70v (no 4-8ohm operation).

This means it has to be a 70v system for sats & sub (I didn't see an additional 4-8ohm amp for the sub), and I think each speaker has an internal crossover (high pass in sats and low pass in sub).

So I think I'm looking at a stereo 70v system with half the sats on one channel and half the sats on the other channel, but the sub is still a mystery.  With it being 70v, I'd expect it to only be on one channel, but if either of the amp channels is turned up I hear bass.  Because of this, I've either missed a second subwoofer, or there's only one sub that's wire to both left & right channels.

Regardless... I think the sub(s) are ok, I just need to replace all the satellite speakers with 70v units that can handle full range input.  Really wish it was setup for mono with the sub(s) on one channel and the satellites on a separate channel with a DSP amp for crossovers.

If I recall, the early versions of James with the QSC had a buried crossover box (placed with or near the sub) where all the wire splices lived. See if you can find that.

I've used James, Sonance Sonarray, and Snap/Sonance Landscape Series. I'd like to say the Snap are comparable to the James setup. I've used them both in conjunction with a Crown CDi1000 separating the sats and subs per amp. Nothing buy exceptional results and it's awesome to be able to switch between with 3 different 70 Volt output setting and an 8ohm option.
