I'm looking to upgrade my main TV. I currently have a 720p Panasonic Plasma.

I'm looking at the Sony XBR55X930D or Samsung UN55KS8000. Any opinions on which one you guys think is better, or another model in there price range would be greatly appreciated. Just want close to plasma performance as possible for gaming, TV, and movies. Thanks!

I'd have to lean towards the Sony as well.

Either will be an upgrade to your 720P Panny (And I'm a plasma fan)

We have been samsung only guys for years, tried a few LGs and that was a bad route, just did a job with 5 sonys, 800 and 850 series and really liked them. Only used control on 1 as others were in exam rooms and waiting room. We have a few more 75's on the way, an 850 and a 940 for 2 other clients. Both of these will be controlled with RTI.

I think my next tv will be one of the sony's in a 65"
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Sony. 850s if you can.

Stop it, goldenz. That's not what I meant.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Samsung is way better ,the KS8000 makes the Sony 850D look like a 3 year old model , top notch bezel design and way better brightness and overall picture "pop" , good RS232 conrol . The only good things about the Sony TV's are IP control and a little better margin , but their scaler is very bad with non HD sources / channels , regular channels looks horible especially on TV's 65" and bigger , even most HD channels from Comcast don't look too good on the 850D . The Samsung's scaler on the other hand is very good , on the KS8000 even regular 480p channels look decent .
If you need a TV for yourself , go Samsung all the way , you won't regret it .
In every single house that gets a new Samsung TV the customers always comment on how good the TV looks and 75 % of the customers that get a new Sony mention that the picture doesn't look too good and I have to start explaining how all the new TV's feature 4K resolution and most of the cable channels are super compressed and low resolution , etc.
