I can't imagine it exists, but does anyone know of a way to plug in an ipod / android, etc, using the minijack into a component that would allow for pitch control? Not looking for DJ mixers - just a rack mounted component with a 1/8" or RCA analog inputs.

Thanks Fred, but I was looking for a hardware component not software. I should have been more specific. Although, this software does look awesome!

Seems like whatever is found has to run a recorded signal through software. Bennett, is this acceptable? Just wondering, what are you looking to do with this?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw |

Perhaps a musical instrument store. Here is one example: [Link: amazon.com]If you dig around, you may be able to find an old MXR unit.

Thanks for suggestions guys. Ernie, it's for a fitness step class that uses BPMs to set the pace of the class. However, all the instructors want to use their own music from their phone/ipod device. I have seen the CD players (Tascam, DENON Pro) that have the ipod dock (30 pin) on board, but i wanna say that the pitch control on those units were limited to just the CD portion.

I ran into the same design barrier a while back for a running studio. They wanted all the control from a portable device vs. walking over to hardware. I spent a while looking into hardware with app control which was the wrong path. I came across an app called Anytune Pro which did everything I needed. They were able to build their own playlists in the app and adjust speed and pitch on the fly. I used Airplay to a Airport Express from a dedicated iPod touch for each instructor, don't use a phone!
Make sure you have a solid network (Ruckus is my choice) and make sure you inform them that getting all the licenses needed to play their own music is their responsibility (ASCAP, BMI, etc.)...... put it in the contract, make them sign it!
