How are you guys doing this to make sure someone is in the room? Its a sealed fireplace so its not like it can burn down the place if the cat is sleeping next to the pilot light...

Maybe since its sealed its not a huge deal, but I would still like to make sure someone is there.

My thought is to just program a double tap on the SR260 programmable buttons but the relay will still show up in navigator? I guess I could make a hidden room and hide it from the rest of the rooms so the client can only press the remote to turn it on?

Anyway I could bind a pop up on navigator to ask are you in the room with the relay press before it shoots the command?

Thanks!

How about just leave it alone and not integrate it into C4? They can walk over to a standard switch or use the included remote if there is one. If you are that worried about liability, best not touch it at all IMHO. What is the benefit? Not having to get off your duff to turn on/off the fireplace? Sounds like a 1st world problem right there. :)

You know, sometimes being in this industry it makes you not see the simple solution that's in front of you. Hence why we ask questions on the forum to see if from a different prospective and to get experienced answers.

So, kindly; go eff your self.

You can also set up a fireplace experience button to rotate through time values that you want the fireplace to be on, then when the timer expires the fireplace is shut off. You can conveniently place this experience button in Comfort.

You make sure someone is in the room by using screws to attach a controller to the wall. That's in the room, see. So the person is sure to be in the room.

Anyway I could bind a pop up on navigator to ask are you in the room with the relay press before it shoots the command?

Anyone who would ignore that they're not supposed to turn on the fireplace when they're out of the room, given this complication to the remote, would curse at the programmer and then lie.

I would never have a fireplace controlled by any interface that can leave line of sight. Too much liability. Hardwired panel only.

Bren, your 260 could be miles away. If not the remote, then the mobile app that mirrors what the remote has.
If you're that worry about it, just give them a button on a keypad as they don't show up anywhere.

BTW, I had just the opposite problem, which was resolved with experience button not 2 days ago :-) [Link: forums.control4.com]
