That is something you are not supposed to do. I think many do though.
Yeah, I read that's against the FAA rules, but it was only my second flight and I was on a big open space and just barely over the tallest trees. So I'm pretty sure that the only danger was to my own wallet.
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.
I may be in the minority, but I actually like the sound it makes. At first I didn't but it helps me locate it in the sky if I take my eye off for a second to look at the screen. It's barely noticeable at altitude, but enough that it helps me track it.
I didn't want a drone that uses a camera I already have. Basically I just have a GoPro and my DSLR. Not going to fly my nikon around as a) its expensive, b) it's too heavy. The GoPro works great as far as vid quality, but I find them to be a pain the but to use. I like using the DJI app as it is an all in one app. I also like that it does not have a built in screen as I can use my phone, iPad Mini or iPad (I had to throw a different mount on it than what it came with). One thing I hate is the price of the DJI batteries. How much did the Yuneec battery run?
Best Buy sells spare Yuneec batteries for $99, but you can get higher capacity 2nd party batts for $50. They up your flight time to about 30 minutes.
I was flying mine yesterday and a huge gust of wind blew it right into my house and through a screen on my window. Luckily the window is fine, but the screen is f*cked. Drone is OK too.
my buddy took the video of my xmas lights with a DJI Phantom 4. it was very windy and the video still turned out pretty good.
I love the setup! I'm not sure, but it looks like LOR stuff. I'm retired from the xmas stuff, so if you're looking for any CCR's let me know. Cheers, JT

Very interested. Let me know what you have and what you want for it. I want to go all out next year.
i'm in South Jersey near Atlantic City. I haven't used CCRs before. Do I need anything else to make them work?
I thought you were using them already. I'm assuming those are RGB strips you have now. It looked like you were using Light o'Rama. My old system consisted of about 80 channels of LOR and I was just getting into th cosmic color ribbons when I decided I've had enough. CCR's are RGB strips with each diode being programmed independently through software. Check out YouTube and the Light O Rama site. Programming this stuff takes an eternity, but you can also buy sequences (that you can modify to fit your show). Cheers, JT

You're supposed to be talking about your drone, may she rest in peace - or in your case, pieces :-Q
