Never mind that we can't hide the required wire in the wall. Of course, that wire is probably only 36" or less any way.

At first I thought the solution was to install a recessed box behind the panel. Put the media player in the box and run power to the box.

But looking closer it appears the media player is almost as wide as the panel so unless multiple studs are going to be cut no way to put it behind panel. I think that the speakers are part of the media player. How about a shelf installed just below the panel that the media player sits on and hides the cable from the panel to media player.

Just drop the media player in the wall vertically between the studs, done.

I understand the need for the media player with a tv like this. You have to have somewhere for connections and speakers to go. But, at the very least, figure out how to make the connecting cable safe to run in the wall, and make it long enough, or customizable, for a real install.

Another half-baked BS tech-y solution to get the end user consumers hyped up.

And as far as the little fat man getting S Korea - Drumpf should pull the plug on the billions of welfare $$$s the USA dolls out every year to useless/helpless countries, just so they'll be allies.

I honestly do not understand the concern over the "thickness" of a TV. They've gotten so thin that they do not FUNCTION as well as older displays in some ways. Every ultra-thin OLED or LCD I've delivered lately has "waves" in it if you look across its width from the side, even though packaging and television are pristine...WTF?

Is there really a critical mass of people craving 1.2mm thick 75" screens out there...? Or is this just [largely Asian] designers trying to one-up each other...?

Sounds like the "tail wagging the dog" scenario has taken over the industry... most people we deal with seem fine with a 3" thick 55" TV.

Well, we've heard of people with small, uh, organs, wanting large trucks; what unusual sexual characteristic would inspire a need to make thinner and thinner TVs?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

We just replaced a 2007 era Pioneer Elite [built like a battle tank!] with a 65" OLED. The client required that we re-use the MASSIVE, dual-arm articulating OmniMount already in place so that the 65" display can be either flat against the wall for viewing in the living room OR 90 degrees perpendicular to the wall for viewing in the dining/kitchen area. We managed to make it work WITH a unitized SONOS Playbar added to the mix, but had to issue the stern admonition that the client SHOULD NOT attempt to move the assembly by pushing/pulling the flat panel. The weight/resistance of the mount exceeds the display's rigidity, not to mention, there's NO bezel to offer a hand-hold. You'd be thumbing the OLED panel any where you grabbed it. So silly.

If we're going to make TV's this thin, they should be cased in Titanium or Magnesium, me thinks.

Also, mount manufacturers need to update their articulating mount designs to accommodate LARGE displays with SMALL, bottom-loaded mount locations [VESA 200x200 on a 65" display, for instance]. I could find none that work well with that arrangement and offer enough extension to accommodate a 65" display at 90 degrees to the wall. Get busy, SANUS!
