Has anyone programmed the new Savant remote. We have a client who's son purchased one of these and wants us to program it. I'm a little pissed because we did a Total Control system in the house and all we needed to do was add a 1080 to the project and he could use that for his TV/FIOS box and Soundbar. Instead Best Buy talked him into this and here we are. I would prefer to have them do it but they just left it at his house not programmed. Nice customer service. Is it like a harmony or is there software to program it. We just got approved as a dealer for Savant which I didn't know about. Thanks in advance for any advice.

So Savant remote price x your hourly rate x 4 to 5 hours of research and programming. Bet you can talk them into returning that and buying a 1080

Its similar to Harmony sort of. You actually program it with your mobile device after creating a Savant account.

I'm curious how you're experience is with it. I thought it was a bit of a nice looking turd due to limitations in programming and certain aspects of its operation were not necessarily intuitive.
That was when it just came out, so I'm assuming they've improved the software. For a single zone system with main stream gear, you should be OK, but it would be better to stick with URC.

The voice control was very shoddy when I tried it. Hopefully you will update this thread with your experience.

How about, "This is the wrong remote for this system"?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Because the son didn't pay for programming.

If their WiFi is flaky at all, life is gonna suck. I went to Savant training and the guy had major problems with it because he didn't make sure to set up a good network connection and personally, that didn't impress me.

I would tell them to return it because it's not compatible with what they already have and because it's not flexible WRT buttons and operation. It's really made for MDUs and simple single room systems. It's a nice looking remote, but it's not flexible, at all.

So I went to this house today to try and program his remote. He had it all packed up and was going to take it back to Best Buy. Thank god I was not looking forward to messing with this at 3:00 on a Friday. Just programmed his FIOS remote to control the TV and away I went. He may buy a TC remote later.
