I have a large pre-wire coming up at the end of the month and im not going to be able todo it all. I need someone to help me pre wire it. Its for 9 zones of audio and 9 zones of video with the usual Low voltage to every room.

Ideally I would like to set my boxes, speaker rings and my DIN rail panel (structured wiring Panel) and have the wiring conttractor pull to them. ive used one before for a large commercial job but they wont do residential.

im in the Philadelphia market

TIA

Maybe we should start a nationwide wire sub-contractor service called "Wire Monkeys"

OnForce? They are typically drug screened and background checked. At least they used to be years ago when I did it....

You have to know an electrical contractor that would be willing to do it. What about the GC's guys; they are already on-site?

What about your buddy -- is he out of the picture now?

Your fiancé wants a nice wedding -- make her work for it.

Call Snap and tell those sales guys that they need real world experience and you're willing to oblige.

Lastly, and I can't believe that I'm saying that -- call Jeff :-)

We pretty much always use the electricians now. We have to work with them anyway. We have to closely coordinate with them for lighting & power at TV's and AV cabinets & the control room.

Provide them with a very detailed complete plan. Meet with them and go over what you want done. Visit the site several times during the first week to make sure they are on the same page and then stop by periodically to check status.

You sell the wire so you make money on it and you make sure the right wire is being used. They get to pad their labor bill with all these extra hours. Win Win.

What do you use to generate the plans that the electricians follow? I'm assuming it's fairly easy for them to make sense of...

We use D-Tools to generate wiring plans but you can do it with any floorplan software. Just about every room is wired the same so they learn quickly that keypads get this wire and speakers get that wire etc.

As long as we supply the wire and teach them the basics like not knotting the cable and limit the 90 degree bends and no yanking on the fiber...they are fine.

We don't put in the boxes or speaker brackets (what 3pedal mentioned) but that would absolutely make life easier for you/them.

Another thing i just thought of is color coding. This has helped in the past too. I can walk up to a bundle of all black wires and in seconds group them into cat5's/speaker cables/fiber etc without reading the labels but most people just see a bundle of black wire. Keeping everything a different color will help eliminate confusion.

And you've already checked with your local supplier, and he has no recommendations?

Local electrical supply counter guys talk shop with sparkys all day long. If they know of someone light on work, I'm sure they'll connect you up.
