Taking things literally, are we? Thanks, google:

On point:
That works out to just under 25 strikes per square mile per year, with more population centers in the area than other lightning-prone states. A quick look at a list of average lightning strikes over the last couple decade shows WI to be about #27 on the list. And, since there aren't bunches of high population areas in Wisconsin, the effect of the lightning on people is much less there than in Florida.

It's like you're complaining because you've got a Denon, but he's got an Onkyo.

I was asking because I don't know where he is, Captain Irony.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I'm a bit south of the lighting sweet-spot in Florida, and it's still pretty insane.

My second largest job last year was lightning damage repair. It hit a couple trees about 100' from the nearest point of the house, killed a big royal palm and a big old oak tree (I think it was). There are 18 cameras (2 DVRs), and I was able to search the CCTV and find 'the moment'. The owner was on the covered lanai playing a board game with a guest and they both nearly jumped out of their skin (luckily, they were on the far side of the house from the hit).

As for gear:

10 cameras, and the DVR they were attached to (but NOT the camera power supply, oddly enough)
3 out of 4 Lift Master gate operators
Pretty much the entire gate entry system (Siedle - it cooked a *bunch* of modules)
(4) TPS-6Ls
(1) 6x in-wall dock
CNX-HUB
Infinet Gateway
C2N-IVDS

And probably more stuff I can't remember right now. I had to re-pull some of the camera wire, Cat6, that looked like it exploded like a firecracker at the base of the camera pole where the wire entered conduit. Some of it had sections where the twisted pairs were melted inside the jacket. RJ45 connectors that were charred. And that's just from one strike, this year. There were more strikes last year, more parts damaged.

I remember doing the rough at this place, many years ago, and the weather was crazier than any place I'd worked before (and I'd already been in the area for many years). The guy wanted to see the house being built from where he lived, so he had us put up camera that he could view. They got blown up within a week. My buddy, who was mainly in charge of the rough, told me about seeing static sparks (sparkles, he called them) coming from the steel studs, pre-drywall, when the bad storms came by.

Another buddy is an electrical tech for a local car dealership here. He told me about having to fix lightning strike damage to cars. I didn't believe him until he showed me pictures.

Every year...work gets busy and the storms come and you just think, "Dammit...I don't have time for this right now..." It's January, and I'm literally in a thunderstorm right now. I admit it's a bit weird for this time of year, but it's 100% true. haha...

Yea, I've got two homes with the replacement tally above $6000. Most likely a direct lightning to their home or property.

Okay, you didn't know. I put that down to reading comprehension or memory. Here's the first post:

In the last year, I have pulled a half dozen Denon AVRs from the E series to X series for various problems. Another one died today displaying no signs of power.

I have been loyal to the line (10 years) and realize that S.W. Florida is the lightning capitol. It just seems the odds are growing for HDMI board failures, and now today's 2 yr old brick. Is this a trend with you guys?

Sounds to me like that's a pretty good hint where he is.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Has anyone determined if there is a link between the models made in CHina vs the few models left that are still built in Japan?

This sucks, I used to love Denon and still have a really old avr-1500 that is still pumping away. Something about the big "clunk" the older models with the relay switching made.

Or, maybe I didn't see that post.

Edited to remove the comma that would have caused you to bust my chops because you just can't help yourself.

Just stop reading anything he posts like most of us have years ago.. He might have something worth reading once in a while but you're more likely than not just wasting your time.

Sad but true. Even his O.C.D. suffers from acute O.C.D.
