Looking to pickup a different line; besides URC, anybody else I should be looking at? The main thing I need is RELIABILITY; call me crazy but a $1000 remote should last more than two years. I only need a handheld unit with a basic processor for my older/ technically challenged clients that can't use an iPad. I also need to have IP control of Sony TVs, Sonos, Apple TV, Roku, Integra and Tivo. How is the reliability of URC compared to RTI's handhelds?

URC Total Control has been solid for me. Quick programming/configuration with built in iOS and Droid control.
URC MRX-8 and a TRC 1080 are in the same price point as a basic RTI remote and processor and does all that you are asking for.

Control4 is good. But if you want something that has a nice handheld remote, go with Elan. Much nicer than that turd with buttons that C4 has.

We sell C4 and Elan. The SR260 is better than the HR200 IMHO.

I guess it depends on how you use a handheld remote. Mine gets used for watching TV. I do not think I have used the SR260 List navigator once.

I have ripped out way too many Elan systems that required a complete start over because the client wanted one little upgrade or the software wasnt supported anymore. I could never sell it.
Sadly, that notion (as well as the early days and what I perceived as very poor remotes and klunky on TV interfaces) have kept me away from C4 as well. I am hearing more and more positives about it lately and feel like I should look at it. There is definitely an automation gap for us right now. How is everyone liking C4? Also, I dont deal with AVAD so if you have a C4 rep in So Cal you want to send my way, Id be greatful.
I thought about Savant too but I just cant. Their corporate swings seem like warning signs. Another NetStreams.
