Tree huggers are always ass backwards. They found a medium size dog is worse for the environment then an full size suv. I have a Friday who drive his Prius in Eco It takes him nearly a minute to get to 60mph

A friend of mine in high school had a ford festiva that got 30mpg. That was almost 25 years ago and it didn't have a plug.

Our Festiva did about 35. My friends manual geo metro hatchback did 40-45.

The good old days...I could buy a tank of gas and pack of cigarettes for $10. At the time...the tank of gas and pack of smokes lasted me a whole week.

There is only one situation where we will not use fossil fuels and petroleum products, when there isn't any more to use.

Your life and comfort level is brought to you 100% by fossil fuels and petroleum products, 100%.

So unless you are ready and willing to go back to growing your own food, living in caves and protecting it with pointed sticks, deal with it and accept it.

Want to pick an environmental issue that is of far greater potential for human destruction, why are we not talking about all the nuclear waste we keep generating and burying in big holes in the ground that will never go away.

Ok great, so we stop burning coal, so to keep up the power grid we have to cover the entire nations landscape with solar panels and windmill farms.

Then the environmentalists have a whole new wave of spiders, birds and fish they have to look after, and they asked for no more fossil fuels.

None of your "Green" solutions can be made without fossil fuel and petroleum products.

It may be the end of man fighting over these resources, but it will never go away until there is no more.

Think about how much toxic waste you are installing in and around the world and how much pollution is created manufacturing your toys, that does not seem to concern you, long as the bank account is green.

These threads are as pointless as the political ones.

Fascinating topic. Too many variables for anyone to conclude decisively.

"Don't believe anything you think" applies well to this.

This might explain why so many are afraid to stop burning things for fuel. If i thought i had to live outside and stop using language i might also be able to deny the reality of climate change and ignore clean energy alternatives.

Why cant we go back to like 1800? Or even 1500? Why do we have to go all the way back to 30,000 BC?

Can you imagine 7.4 billion fires burning to cook, clean and keep warm and the deforestation to provide the fuel for theses fires and the pollution created.

What this world need less of is people.

When the world is ready to, it will fix itself, its happened before and will happen again.

7.4 billion fires are burning already to cook, warm...and DRIVE! So imagine if we just stopped one of those fires...it would mean 7.4 billion fewer fires burning every day.

It would be nice if the world doesn't kill humanity when it fixes itself.

Like the rocket scientist that posted before you? Anyone that believes electric vehicles are worse for the environment, long term, than gasoline is too stupid for words.

There's every chance that you and Mac are not as well informed as you think, and are wrong.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Put your dog in a fenced back yard and the yard can fix itself. Put 10 dogs in your yard and mother nature cant keep up with the holes dug, the grass killed by urine and feces will never grow back.

Put 10,000 dogs back there and its a disgusting dangerous pit that nothing grows in. Disease and starvation will kill the 10,000 dogs.

The example talks about dogs...humans aren't just crapping and peeing on everything. They are also digging up poison...and burning it. Humans are turning the knob up to 11 on the environment...and we don't have to.

The only way the planet can fix itself right now is if it rids itself of humanity or if humanity stops destroying things. We can power things with wind and the sun. People talk about battery factories being bad for the environment...like burst pipelines don't exist.

Anyone see the latest news? Remember all those crazy natives who were worried about nothing? [Link: huffingtonpost.com]

Bottom line is that we currently use fossil fuels but we don't need to. Every time a windmill is installed the upfront tax on mother nature more than pays for itself the rest of the time its in operation. A gallon of gas literally goes up in smoke never to be used again.

I might be wrong about a lot of things but any educated 5 year old knows that burning things makes a mess.
