Client bought last year's Sony XBR65X750 and new Roku 4 from Best Buy.
I provided the Marantz NR1506 which is HDCP2.2 compliant.
I connected them using the Ethereal MHX series passive HDMI cables.
When I selected the 4K resolution on the Roku 4 I get the warning that the HDMI (need ARC input but could run optical if I need to switch inputs) input is not HDCP 2.2 and need to switch inputs on Sony TV.
I searched the Sony forums and found a thread that indicated if I did an update on the TV the TV would get the HDCP 2.2 upgrade.
Ran the update in the Sony TV and error box on Roku 4 says still need input with HDCP 2.2.
I tried all 4 HDMI inputs on Sony TV with no success.
Either my client needs to get the newer Sony TV (or Samsung) or I'm doing something wrong on this TV.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

The only update to HDCP2.2 is a hardware upgrade, cannot be done via firmware. If the TV doesn't have the chipset, it never will.

You could see about one of these units.

Apparently it will work with 4k non-HDCP2.2 units.

All Sony XBR models from 2013 onward have HDCP 2.2 support on at least one input. Have you tried bypassing the Marantz?

No.
I just used same Marantz on Sony 4K projector. It gave me same error and after I swapped inputs on Sony PJ it worked through Marantz with so swapping.
I might have to try it...

Try connecting Roku directly to the 2.2 input on the TV, go through basic setup, confirm 4k content is available, then power off and move to the Marantz.

I had to do the same w/ a similar setup + Crestron DM last spring. Since then the Roku has 'lost' the 4k content once or twice (presumably based on a failed 2.2 authentication) and required a power cycle. Haven't had to repeat the above setup process, so not sure if that was related to first-run, (followed by beta) DM firmware from Crestron instead. Either way bypassing the AVR is a good test.

I don't know if this plays into it or not, but your cable is not 18 gig. You should stock up on the AS-HD18-xx. I've used said cable and Velox with Roku 4/Denon/Samsung a few times now and have had no issues.

XBR65X750D is a current model, and definitely has HDMI 2.0 inputs that support HDCP 2.2.

"C" series models would also support 2.0 w/ 2.2.

You need to make sure that your HDMI are set to Full and not limited or they will not see the ROKU 4k content. You do it in the HDMI settings I think!

Why do you say its not 18gig? MHX is fine for up to 5 meters at full 4K bandwith and is Brent's preferred cable. Add a GA1 and go to 15 meters.

I didn't realize it was. I blame Metra! :)

The only defense I have is IMHO, the site is not the easiest to flip through at times. I don't remember the drop down option for 'All 18g HDMI cables' , that is helpful.

That is one tough website. I'd buy more if it was laid out in a more understandable way.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Good defense. That is why I also just ask Brent.

So, everyone of you who has met me knows that I qualify as the "dim bulb in the package" when it comes to the internet.
Please send me your ideas on how to make this a better experience.
Please note that the 'All 18g HDMI cables' banner is because of this site.
Good ideas (and sometimes even my ideas) do get implemented.
