Hi all,

Is there a Crestron control module for IP control for RNG150N boxes? Box rev says 4.1. Free or commercial.

Or any API docs to write my own?

I assume its possible if the Comcast apps can do it?

Thanks.

You may be able to get documentation from Comcast if you sign-up with their Integrator program. I've been mulling this because I don't like the NDA. It's so fierce that anyone who has signed up, can't tell you if IP commands are documented.

Reportedly, an advantage to signing up is that you'll have a better path to support. I could have used that on Friday as I struggled through three reps over a period of hours -- just to enable Bridge mode. This was doubly irksome because many of the Gateways have a button on the first page of the web admin -- one click -- done. (Yes, it was an approved Arris Gateway, with all sorts of Xfinity logos and instructions on and in the packing.)

Never have I been able to do anything with that comcrap box other than IR.

Tivos can be controlled via IP.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

IP control is coming soon. Through the grapevine, it's being worked on as I type. Then we'll have to wait for approvals from the control manufacturers.

Id say within some months it should be available.

The apps work now because you connect to their servers, which in turn, the boxes connect to as well.

IP control of X1 has been "in the works" for well over a year. there was supposed to be an announcement at cedia.. but again.. nothing.
There is no documentation on the CXI site.

Ive been told January is when it gets released to the manufacturers. Apparently the hold up is the "cloud" and integration from control manufacturers. I guess these boxes wont have "local" IP control, rather a sign in. To me this seems painfully complicated over just giving us local IP control. Why reinvent the wheel?

on a side note, CXI has been a godsend.

I think that the "Cloud" part would be for displaying the Guide on a remote. And they might want to show live video on the remote. It would be a shame if control commands had to go up to a cloud server, then back down to the box.

I believe one of the key people who was driving this has left Comcast. So who knows when we will see this feature added.
