[Link: skywalker.com]It has Bright, Dim and flash I hate the flash mode if you MUST toggle through it to turn it off. which is useful for shining into a wall or other space that is lit, but I need to see if the gap or hole I shine into can be used for fishing cabling. It also has a metal bead on the end, for breaking glass. Edumacate me: what about the flash mode is useful for shining into a wall, etc, that's different from every other flashlight? Best flashlight I have owned. It better be if it uses C cells. Have you noticed how rare those are?

I don't live in California- we have everything out here. I have never had a problem finding them, although I haven't needed many, as I wrote. Worst case, I go to Harbor Freight and buy some re-chargeables. Houses are built differently here, too- lots of older ones which have odd spaces that don't allow for someone to shove a push rod in or grab it from the other end. Sometimes, I need to go into an attic, find a hole and see if the wall has fire blocking- if I see the flashing light at the opening for the wall plate, I know it's somewhat open.

The best flashlight is the one that you have with you. :) For me, that means picking up a free one at Harbor Freight when they have give aways. I now have one or even two at every location in the house, in the car, shed, etc. They even come with three AAA batteries! They put out a tiny blue light but good enough to illuminate things.
I then added better performing ones that I have bought from Amazon when on sale. I have one of these D cell ones and as much as it makes feel good that I have it, I have only used it a couple of times.
Hate using my phone as a flash light. And as with others, will never buy a flashlight that has a cycling switch to flash, etc.

I hate the flash mode if you MUST toggle through it to turn it off. Not many options if the switch is protected from moisture, other than adding another switch, which makes the rubber cover longer and more prone to failure.

If interested, Marshall at Going Gear has a raft of flashlight reviews on his " target="_blank">YouTube channel. In the past I've used Maglite, Surefire, Fenix and Foursevens, but my personal preference is for Olight.

I've been carrying a Streamlight Stylus Pro in my pocket for years. I wouldn't rely on it for tactical purposes but it is perfect for this line of work! [Link: amazon.com]I have had 2-3 of these over the years. Great flashlight, tailcap isn't water (or spit proof). Yeah, I know, putting your flashlight in your mouth is gross. Been meaning to buy a new one. A satellite guy that I was working on a site with last week had a little LED pen light where the top 2-3 inches of the light was an LED strip. Thing lit up the inside of a cabinet really well. I use my phone for little stuff and have a Milwaukee 18v LED light for rack work. I also have a 4x4 LED panel that will light up a room but goes through 8 AA batteries in about 4-6 hours.
