I have been trying to get my RC5400 to work off of RF not IR. I have had no luck getting it to be consistent. Is there a trick to getting it to work well?

Any help would be GREAT!!

It has veen my experience that the rf extenders are only good for a range up to about 30 ft max if inside a cabinet. If it is inside an equipment cabinet, try to keep it as far as possible from 'motorized' components(DVD,CD,VCR,etc), also try to keep it as far as possible to any vent fan if you have one installed. And lastly, the one thing that will keep the rf extender from working is a RaddioRa system. Apparently they run on the same frequency.

You can try an alternate frequency. I have successfully used the RF extender with the RadioRa system. Experiment with placement and horizontal versus vertical placement. It is tricky at times but usually can be gotten to work reliably.

Thanks!. I have been trying to move it around and away from the equipmnet, but still no consistency. No RadioRA being used so that shouldnt be an issue. Someone once told me to atleast 15-20 ft away from the equipment...

Was there any one frequency or extender number that worked better than others? What about being farther away from equipment..from your experience?

2.4 GHz gear also greatly reduces range as does any X-10 RF.
