Will need about 6 players. One sits on his desk so he as asked me to try to find one that is compact but not dirt cheap and keep them uniform. Any thoughts? As far as I know there are just the L cheapo's, Samsung, Sony, etc. then it goes up to the full sized units, Denon, Oppo, Arcam and what not. Stackable if possible.

Gotta love the customers that aren't happy unless you find something you have already stated may not exist.

The Sony BDP-S6700 is my go to. It sells for $119.

1) It's compact but squared off in shape.
2) Has a dual core processor, so it's quick with actions.
3) Has Miracast, Bluetooth, USB, 3D, 4K upscale, and every other extra feature he could want.
4) Performance is good.
5) Supports just about every file format for local streaming.
6) Good selection of popular streaming services.
7) Discrete IR codes.
8) And nice GUI interface. I swear if another installer comments they hate the Xcross GUI from 5+ years ago, I'm going to scream. Even Ernie has played with the current interface.

Only con is it doesn't have analog audio outputs (for those times you need it) but can use a converter on the coax digital audio output.
And it has the stupid power brick. Don't understand why they couldn't squeeze the power supply into the player.

Looks great. I can't tell are there any status lights on the front at all, like at least something to tell you whether its on or off? Some of those Sammys are like that and its like wth.

3Ped do you have a model and is it full size or smaller?

Thanks guys.

Do you know if it has Plex support?
Does it do network share access with username/password?
What about IP control?
And lastly, Control4 drivers?

The Sony has a single tiny green light when it's on.

The Sony ES model looks awesome but it is full size and not compact.

The Sony has IP control from what I understand but I have not used that yet. I'm sure 3Ped can tell you more since he does a LOT of IP controlled systems and uses Sony a lot.

The Sony does not do PLEX. But if you are going beyond the basic streaming services, you should 100% be using a dedicated streaming box.
