I cant find anything in the manuals online stating that it does. If so, can multiple alarms be set and can you choose the source, like in Sonos?

Thanks.

Also please add Apple Music and as many services as you can! (If you really want to compete with Sonos)

I'd switch today if it had the alarm feature. We use it in our own home daily and it's great.

I'm guessing you mean it can play everything Sonos can 'because' you can do it thru Airplay.
Because MusicCast only has about 6 services last I checked. Sonos has like 45 services.

Let me also say THAT is an unacceptable answer. If I wanted everything thru Airplay, then why do I need any of these wireless music boxes for?
The reason being, trying to stream everything off your tablet or phone SUCKS!!! That's why they make these boxes with the services built-in.
Problems with services from tablet/phone:
1) Hickups that happen every so often, will interrupt the music from time to time.
2) Bit rate quality is not the same for some services.
3) More battery drain from streaming on the portable device, means it has to stay plugged in somewhere.
4) Ties up the device to doing only that 1 thing.

There's more I'm not thinking of right now. But having to Airplay, Bluetooth, or Cast to a device to get your service is BS! I have higher standards and I hope at least some of my customers do to.

I hope Yamaha adds more services as well but historically, Yamaha doesn't usually do that. So what we have now is likely all we will ever get from MusicCast.

I have many Sonos systems out there. I try to ask all of the clients once they have lived with the system for a while what services they use. EVERY single one of them says Pandora, Spotify, and stream music from their phone, with a few that like to stream from iTunes directly. I haven't even had anyone mention Apple Music. Yes Sonos has over 40 services, but how many do people actually use?

Here in Canada more people subscribe to Apple Music than any other service. Most of my customers already have it before I even recommend a service. I agree, Im tired of hearing companies recommending Airplay. That used to be great but everyone realizes at some point how lame it is.

You should know that MusicCast also can't play directly from iTunes music in your computer. You have to get your customer to transfer files to a network hard drive and change the way they manage their iTunes library.

That's a relative easy work-around. But the missing feature(s) can be a deal-breaker at this time. I looked into Heos, but I found no alarm feature there, either.

What about some Echo Dots and Parasound Z.Amps? I think setting alarm(s), having access to music services and a local library would be easy to control with the voice recognition feature. Does any one here have any experience with these?

I have an Echo Dot that I have been testing and playing with.
The thing you have to realize, it is all in the cloud. The Echo is just a dumb box that translates everything for the Amazon cloud to work with.
Using it as an alarm clock - very bad idea! Here's why:
1) If there is a power failure, Echo has no battery backup.
2) Wouldn't matter if it did, if your network doesn't have battery backup too.
3) Which comes to the next point; even if power is OK, if your internet goes down - no alarm for you!
4) Lastly, something glitches in the cloud and no alarm for you.

For these reasons, using Echo for an alarm clock is a VERY bad idea. I have already experienced 2 of the above fails, in just the few weeks I've been testing.

An alarm clock is very important for most people. It is NOT something that should ever be delegated to the cloud.

We've been using a Connect Amp for the last couple years in outer bedroom as an alarm clock. I have multiple alarms set depending on the day of the week and also one for me and one for my wife. We just use Pandora as the alarm. I have a jazz piano station and she gets Jason Mraz. Its great! I'll never go back to a regular alarm clock.

I just found out I cant control Spotify directly from Musiccast app. Have to switch to Spotify app for Spotify connect. Not sure how I would control multiple zones that way. Sucks if I have to use Spotify app! Sonos still winning for sure!
