Is it possible to use more than one RF remote to control a single C51 client? I tried it with RC73 remotes and the second would not pair, at least using the normal method.

Would I be able to pair multiples of the older RC6xRx remotes?

If you can pair the older remote, then you can pair multiples of it. That's a guess, but when the process is to enter a number into the remote, there's no reason why two remotes can't have the same number.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

That was my guess as well. I guess I will find out. I believe he has those remotes there that were used with the H20. Should be an easy experiment. :)

Yeah, and there's no reason two cell phones can't use the same number......because, ESN (Electronic Serial Number).

They pair one remote at a time.

I regularly set up restaurants with DirecTV remotes set to operate more than one receiver via RF. And I set up a second such remote in case the first one gets beered.

The new gray remotes might indeed pair with the new client receivers, but I'd never see this in a commercial environment. But the white DirecTV remotes are one-way devices when set up properly, and the remote is set to operate receiver(s) without anything custom happening in the receiver.

I say "the right way" because the setup mode where you enter your model number does seem to do some two-way something that might lock the receiver to the remote. Look at Post 9 at [Link: remotecentral.com]. The entire thread might help, too, but that post contains the basic information.
