I'm debating trying to switch the family to android because I know the kids' iPads will need to be upgraded in the next year. But our movie library is my problem. Does anyone have experience converting iTunes movies to something android friendly?

Yes, I googled it before starting this thread. I was hoping to get feedback from people that have actually done it

yeah, most of the links generated by a google search containing the word "convert" are the same spam links that end up on forums like this.

When I read the title I thought oh easy. That is until you said movies. Music was copy and paste, not sure about movies.

Why do you want to do this? What does the fact you are upgrading the kids iPads have to do with swapping to android?

well CopyTrans will get everything OFF of an iOS device.
But all the movies are DRM'd aren't they? Not sure how you would get around that. Plus you would only get the movie in the resolution that was on the device.
Also not even sure this is legal as you don't own any of those movies you just own a licence to the right to view them on iOS devices and in iTunes.
