Guys,
We thought we would access the combined brainpower of this group as myself and my techs are stumped with this one.

Equipment list:
Integra DTR 40.4
Integra DBS 30.3 BD player
DTV DVR HR-24
ATV Gen3
Samsung UN55C7000
Rainbow fish optical HDMI cable

A client of ours with a 4 year old system has recently started complaining of a blue screen upon startup only when using DTV. It happens every 2nd and 3rd time. When he cycles the power on the DVR the picture returns and all is well. No issue on the BD & ATV sources.

We replaced the DVR and updated the firmware on the Integra but the issue returns. We assumed it was the DVR but apparently not.

Our next step is to replace the Integra receiver but we were hoping somebody had a similar issue that they solved so we could avoid this step. I know we can't be the only ones that had this issue.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your expertise.

Send the receiver in for repair. Integra is still fixing the bad chips for free

Have you tried to go source direct to TV and breakout audio to AVR?

Before you ditch the receiver, swap inputs to attempt to determine if the problem comes from the DVR; happens with any HDMI signal on the input you're now using for the DVR; disappears when particular things are plugged into particular inputs; or whatever combo of source/input you can come up with.

Connecting the DVR to other inputs seems to be a most basic troubleshooting step. It gives you the most possible information without changing any components.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

It's the integra. It's a bad chipset. Integra will fix it for free.

You have a potentially bad AV Receiver...but Also a TV from a series that has know (main) input board, wifi board AND power supply issues. The problems could be with either device...but getting a new receiver/RMA replacement is probably the best first step.

I have a small TV (with hdmi connection) that I take on site for a quick test. Do you have one you could try in lieu of the Samsung? It would eliminate a bunch of guessing.
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

Guys,
Thanks for all the great suggestions.

One thing we came up with is modifying the "On" macro to include cycling the DVR power, this isn't a permanent fix but it should solve the problem until we can get the HDMI board replaced.

Thanks again, this board is such a great resource.

No way to truly tell what the problem is without mixing and matching during the troubleshooting process, but I can't believe how many bad Integra receivers I have come across in the past three months. It's insane.

There were indeed a small, first run batch of the .4's that had the bad TI chipset. But ONLY the first production run. Could be that for sure.
