I have used the Denon authorized repair centers in both Georgia and recently tried United Radio in Syracuse NY as an alternative.

United Radio sat on the receiver for three weeks before requesting info to start the diagnostics process. It has been another 5 weeks now. No updates. No communication.

Are other manufacturer repair times the same? Should I even sell Denon anymore?

Depends on the repair company. Some of them are so overloaded it takes forever for a repair.

As far as should you sell Denon, yes. Will you always have problems, yes. I have issues with every brand, Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, Onkyo, Integra, etc. The only brand that I have a track record of the least problems is Yamaha, specifically the Aventage line. They're just built really well and I don't have to worry too much about them.

Their OSD sucks, they don't sound too different or that great to my ears, but they just seem to work as intended after I install them and don't hear from those customers very much about AVR related issues... aside from IP control of them, but I abandoned IP control on AVRs long ago.

I've posted about UR. I've warned folks, now you are experiencing what i did. They did not even fix the issue and had after a few months of bs. Yamaha replaced the receiver with a brand new one. Ur is a worthless pile of horse shit of a company. Thats a FACT

They are one of the worst I ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Same as mentioned, the AVR I sent them came back not repaired. Claim was "problem not found.".

This company should be put out of business.

Yep! I had some HUGE repair times with Panurgy and our local repair shop. I found a place out of Chicago (recommendation from someone on this site) that was turning them around quickly but I don't have that name handy. Not good...

Denon Authorized center here in Houston is big suckO. We do not much with Denon recently, but whenever we do run into an issue, this is the place we'd prefer to goto.

8-15 weeks is an average repair timeline...but can easily be greater than that since most of the local repair shops have closed (there are none in the Pacific Northwest any longer)...so there could easily be an overload at the larger national repair facilities.

Newer Denons and all but the top 3 Marantz's are no longer designed/engineered or manufactured by DM, the engineered part being the most important. Since the Tsunami, Denon lost ALL manufacturing capabilities and Marantz was severly liminted...DM of today is not what it was 5 or more years ago.

Sell Yamaha and don't worry about service/repair issues. They are just built and perform significantly better. As I've said I've had great luck. 6 total failures in 13 years with well over 1000 installed at clients homes. 3 failures were different years 1st production runs pre-aventage. Last 3 defective units were an RXA-720 and an RXV475 with HDMI issues blanking a screen after 4+ years of service, and 1 RXV481 defective out of the box upon initial installation.

I also had one client brick his own RXA810, which required a manufacturer reset (at the service level) and all was good in a few days.

I have had all of my units repaired by Pyramid and they do a great job. however if there is some kind of lightning storm they will be backed up for weeks.
they can fix about anything.

This is why we only sell the RX-Axxxxs.

Its all i use but they're not without fault. Yamaha uses UR for repair, which is a terrible business decision on their part. Thankfully, Yamaha's are the most reliable so the defective units are rare.

I've used Pyramid for Mark Levinson repairs a couple times. They quoted and repaired the gear in a timely fashion.

I used UR this past summer, and I have a nutty timetable of events which went on for months, giving them payment info, waiting weeks and nothing, calling them and hearing "we never got payment", for both the deposit, and the final payment. Yeah, not going to use them ever again. The unit worked when I got it back but not worth the aggravation. Not once did they ever try to contact me about its status, I had to chase them.
