Finally, after years and years of using TVs just as monitors, manufacturers are reintroducing the concept of the monitor. They're called Tuner Free Displays, and are what you'd expect -- a TV without a tuner.

The thing is, there's no guarantee that any of these products are any cheaper simply because they have no tuners. They're likely to be more expensive, even, if these things are very similar to the TVs of the same companies.

As far as I'm concerned, they could have kept the same products and just given us the ability to turn off the damn tuner, as they've allowed us to individually turn off all other inputs. Now, what would be the advantage of that? When you first turn on a modern digital TV, the first thing you see is a screen full of snow. That is brain-dead DUMB.

If we NEVER had to see a screen filled with noise (because, guess what, no analog TV stations are being received!), that would be wonderful. They could make all models turn on with HDMI 1; tuner could be a choice; and tuner could be eliminated from the choices. That's the best of all setups and they would not have to have separate NON-TUNER products.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I just put a couple of those in a bar and few weeks ago. Cannot remember the model, but they were VIZIO.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
