Looking for some ideas on how to turn on a couple Crown CDI 1000 amps. I'm using a couple Sonos Connect boxes to feed the amps to a 70V outdoor landscape series set of speakers. I noticed there's only a hard power button on the front of the amp and no option to turn on via 12 volt trigger or audio sense. What options do I have?

Thanks!

Wattbox and a control system like C4....Or any control system that can sense the packets of info and trigger a command from that...

Or you could use a niles audio sense peice into a 12v triggered outlet. Crowns are designed to be hard powered off so no worry about messing up the amp!

I'm just trying to make it easier for the end user to use. There is currently no control systems and there really is no option to use one. The Niles piece may be a viable option.

Why do you need to turn it off?

Unless you are trying for Leed certification?

I have many of these running in the wild, never been turned off.

These amps are used very seldom so it just seems to be such of waste of power if they are left on for months at a time. I'd imagine the power they consume when in "standby" is discernible?

The unit draws .6 amps at idle. If they're gone for long periods of time then shutting them off makes sense, otherwise not needed. Being their potential for drawing up to 17 amps of power each, you would need a wattbox for each.

I presume your options to automate power on/off is going to be more than the cost to let them run?

"Is it okay to leave a CDi or XLS amp powered on for a permanent installation?"

Crown Tech Support reply:
"Good afternoon,
There should be no issues leaving these amplifiers powered on.
Thanks"
