In my own house I have speakers placed in hallways, powder rooms, laundy room, etc. I have PIRs to control when speakers come on.
I'm burning way too many zones on my Russound D/A unit. I'm looking for simple, 1 input / many output amp that I can control with either IP or relay trigger.
Anyone used something simple for such purpose?
No, I don't want to tie all of those rooms together and trigger them at once.
If I can't find something reasonable, I'll just rig some kustom solution using relays enabling/cutting speaker-out signal.

Maybe you could find some old Xantec RAT1's and an old receiver in your junk box.

Thanks but even that one at 40W is way too much for what's needed. I really only need 2-5W per zone -- if even that.

If so, that wouldn't be needed as the areas discussed would be set-and and forget it. Being powder room, hall, etc. there won't be any UIs. No keypads, volume controls, etc.

Yes, they are discontinued, remotely operated volume controls.
If you don't need individual control of the speakers, just come up with an impedance matching scheme for the junk box receiver -- possibly a series/parallel hack. Depending on your use case, you may want to work out a power switching scheme. Maybe a switched outlet would do what you need to do in this case.

A cheap Onkyo for a few hundred? I've bought Crown welding supplies* off of ebay for a few hundred!
*not actually a welding supply, but probably capable of putting out that much current!
