I have this strange problem with one client's SR7400 receiver: Every morning, it refuses to turn on via IR through a Xantech emitter/RC5 system. After about 5 or 6 tries using the RC9500 remote, the system will either turn on, or the client will simply press the power button on the receiver itself, and then it will work fine. We've replaced the receiver, torn the IR system apart and started over, but still the same problem. What I have noticed is that when the whole house audio IR control is plugged into the back, (via Multi RC in jack) the receiver acts this way. When it is not plugged in, the receiver works fine, and responds to the emitter commands. We have tried removing the emitters from the equation and tried plugging into the RC5 jack on the back of the receiver, but the problem is that it works when we are there, and after we leave, usually the next morning, we get a phone call saying that it won't turn on again. I too, am pulling my hair out on this, and my boss is getting tired of sending me back to this house. Thanks!

Rob try using Xantechs Universal Interface. Don't remember the model # off hand. The dip switchs select brand of eq. you are working with. The unit should be powered as well.

If you are already using one the try replacing it as I've seen them go bad in the field causing such problems.

You need to use the Xantech 794-50 universal translator when hard wiring into the back panel jacks. It strips the carrier frequency from the IR signal. The Marantz simply works this way.

With the 794-50 and the Marantz, I've found that it helps to have a seperate chassis ground from the Xantech to the Marantz. It improves consistency.
