I was in Best Buy today and looked at the Apple watches. Unfortunately, their demo for the watches sucks. It's hard to get an understanding of what they can do. My question though, is the series 2 worth the extra $100 over the series 1? I'm not going swimming with it.

Yes get the series 2. The GPS is a nice addition and better processor make it much faster.

The GPS isn't as big a deal since I would have my phone any way. But, the processor is what I was really concerned about. One thing about Apple, if you are going to buy one of their products, buy the newest version so you can get the most life out of it before they break it

I bought an Apple Watch a few months ago because I had a bunch of Best Buy points and figured I should be educated about it.

The only thing I really use it for is to quickly check who has just texted me and who is calling, rather than having to pull my phone out of my pocket etc.

Occasionally, if I'm in a tight spot and the someone calls me, I will answer and talk through the watch instead of having to crawl out and grab my phone. I can also dictate quick texts over the watch instead of pulling out the phone.

Lastly, I misplace my phone a lot on job sites and at home, so the ping feature on the watch is very handy for locating it.

I could give a crap about the fitness feature, and all the other apps the watch can do I think are not practical. The screen is just too small.

In short, I've thought about selling it several times.

No its not worth it. Save your points or or buy your wife a new hair dryer in another isle with them. You will score more and not need a fitness monitor, she will let you know! Kind of with Andrew on this. Although most already have their phone out at all times. And not being a first responder or a 911 call center the call can wait if I am in a tight spot. Besides voice mail has worked for years. Fitness monitor. Really who needs that? You have an hour to exercise. Wtf is a watch going to do? Sorry for the slight rant. Maybe I could use one to alert me I have been on the bowl too long ranting. Dislike companies coming up with any gadget they can think of based off one sucessful device. Whats next the apple ring? Probably.
