Uncovered something that would probably cause a lot of hair pulling! Customer calls me up saying nothing is working, literally nothing in the House is working except for their phone service. Chalking it up to just the cable box not working and the age old "nothing is working" I spent hours over the last week via phone and text support only to determine a service call was needed!

I show up thinking this is going to be a simple thing, turns out with a little bit of luck it wasn't that bad but could have been. Sure enough not a single cable box in the house was working, a quick reset of the boxes yielded a temporary solution but ultimately it would show up "this channel will be back shortly" on top of that my network (modem in bridge mode-edgemax-unifi) was acting funny too.

While I was in the living room resetting the cable box I happened to glance up and see a pop up message that said "congratulations Comcast will be upgrading your cable boxes over the next three months to the future of entertainment" (or something to that effect) seeing that it clicked that perhaps Comcast had flipped moca on their modem...after some digging, sure enough it had been turned on! Go into settings and turn it off and BAM everything instantly works...flip it on and BAM-Nothing...it clicked because I had read a blurb a few months back that Comcast was replacing boxes because they can't handle the moca signal..

I ran out to my truck and got a moca filter, placed it on the coax feed into the modem to ensure this wouldn't take down the cable boxes when Comcast flips it back on in 3 days. Whatever this funk was it also effected my network too (which makes ZERO sense) which in turn affected C4..

It was a case that would have been a hair pulling service call had I not read that a few months back and that message on the screen. The only thing that's bothering me is why this effected my network, which is completely independent of the moca system....

Just wanted to give a heads up in case you guys run into a whacky "nothing works" situation and the client has older HD boxes. (Motorola RNG200s here)
