Anyone have info on the latest iOS update causing iPad video output from the Apple 30 pin AV adapter to break.

I have a client who buys a bunch of itunes music videos and plays them through his projector for parties and such. He has an older iPad (30 pin connector) and uses the apple branded AV connector with HDMI out to a Epson proj.
We have a HydraConnect HDBaseT extender kit that passes the HDMI signal from said iPad to the projector over CAT6.
It worked fine until this recent apple update. Now they get nothing.

We took over a couple of HDMI devices to see if they pass, and they all do. Just not the iPad.
Any ideas here? Was this something in the update or just pure coincidence?

Indeed. I'm surprised a 30-pin ipad will still boot after installing any update in the last year.

And...thats what we did. Upgraded the iPad and iPod touch and WAHLAH! all is good now. I'm always a bit bull headed when it comes to making old stuff still work with new technology. I bet I tried everything to get that damn thing to work. Should have upgraded right away and saved the time.
Thanks

And this is the reason I moved away from Apple myself. It's complete B.S. that an update broke this. They FORCED an upgrade. There is no reason a software update should break this. Apple is an unethical evil empire, plain and simple

Could not agree more, of course android pisses me off too. Pick a phone, like the graphics and an update changes everything. We allow it because we, not me stand in line for hours to buy the new broken soon device. update a customers remote and change everything, see how well that goes over.

No one forced anything. iOS upgrades are user installed options.

Bullshit. They force you to update software to use certain features. Update them brwaks other features. Has bern happening since the release of iOS. A comparably spec'd device from another manufacturer typically will run for years past the time an IOS device becomes unusable. People don't notice because they constantly upgrade to get the latest and greatest shiny piece to come out of Apple.

I agree. None of the offerings are perfect, that is for certain. I personally like to hang on to a device that I set up and became accustomed to for as long as I can physically use it. I could not do that with Apple, but was on that path with my last phone, a Note3. I cracked the screen unfortunately and it made more sense in this instant to upgrade.

Bullshit right back. No one forces you to upgrade. If you want to use NEW features that are NEW, then yes, you have to upgrade to use NEW features. But the old features that worked all along ewill continue to work. I have an original iPad that still works just like it did when it was new. Yes, it can't be upgraded anymore, tech has past it. But that doesn't make apple evil. It just means that old stuff cant do the same thing as new stuff, because its new.

The ipad in the original post has to be at least 5 years old if it has a thirty pin connector, and i dont think it can be updated to ios 10 anyway. Is Apple supposed to write all software going forward to make every past device fully upgradeable forever? Is a 7 year old processor expected to keep up with the software written for a more modern processor? Your argument is ridiculous. In an apples to apples (see what I did there?) scenario, will an ios device stay stable as long or longer than an android device? I would argue yes if the same thing happens to both. Meaning, the android device will never be upgraded so nothing will change. Dont upgrade an ios device at all and it will stay stable forever too. Upgrade an android device and it will break shit too.

It would be nice if they warned you your video out won't work. There is no warning, so I would not expect the thing to be disabled. Will be good for email and browsing for a long time, they should not disable normal functions. Either something needing a fix or it is an ethics problem.

Note3 is completely up to date and running as fast as the day it came out without any lost features

I would have agreed with you up till this most recent update. I get between five and 10 notices per day to update. If I say no, it brings up another screen that says put in your passcode and the update will be done in the middle of the night when the phone is recharging. If that isn't forcing an upgrade, I don't know what is. Up till this one I think your argument had validity, but no longer.

Havent gotten those messages on any of my devices. The only indication is that there is a badge on the settings app and unless I go in to settings I don't even know what the badge is for. 4 iphones, three ipads. No badgering.
