Upon installing Samsung's new HD-841 DVD player I tried to put in a new Super Audio CD that my client had purchased. It will show up on the display, but the audio will not play. Other DVDs work just fine. It is currently hooked up to an HK AVR 230 via Optical Cable.

any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

As wierd as it sounds, you must hook up Super Audio with an analog connection, or RCA cables. Connect all six channel pre-outs on the DVD to the 5.1 channel input on your A/V receiver if it has one.
If your A/V receiver does not have a 5.1 channel input, connect it two ways. Connect the front R+L to an aux stereo input for SACD's and leave the optical connected for movies.

SACD isn't allowed to travel in the digital domain yet (with special exceptions (like Meridian)) Same with DVD-A... It's all lawyers, not engineering that are stopping it...

Yes, it's a copyright issue. Record comapnies don't want you to be able to make direct digital recordings from SACD or DVD Audio. Also, I don't think that using the left and right down converted outputs will allow you to get the super extended frequency response of the discs.

Probably not, but what I meant for him to do was to use only the fronts of the 5.1 out.
