"we dont need a matrix" is client speak for "we really do need a matrix".

Tell me, when was the last time you set foot in a town that was under a population of 100,000? Let alone tried to find a solution for a commercial customer in a town with a sub 50,000 pop?

I disagree. Many clients are convinced by the loud voice of their budget that they know more than we do. We all remember the clients who knew what they wanted because, hey, they were financial wizzes (yes, I mean wizz, not whiz).

There's the TV ad with the old guy who's talking to the young guy and saying, "I been tryin' to tell ya." This is like that.

Reserve for some lighter moment the advice to your client that they're trying to do vast things with half-vast equipment and they'll have a half-vast result at some point. Say this out loud to yourself before you say it to them.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Get a Roku.
Get a 1x10 HDMI splitter.
Get 9 3x1 or HDMI selectors.
A lot of short hdmi cables.

Cheapest way as far as I can see it.

I see both sides of it. Mac is right in that in order to accomplish what they want to do, they really do need some form of distribution system. Casey is right in that there is not always a budget for it, especially in a bar or restaurant. Most are about as cheap of a client as you can get. The challenge for Casey is in finding the solution that provides a middle ground. Something that WILL work and fullfill their needs while staying within their budget. If he can't make it happen reliably where he is not losing money (or his company), then it is probably best to walk away from the project. If he can make it happen reliably within budget, than he will be a rockstar. Good luck, this one sounds challenging.

Would love to have to service this for free.

If this IS your only solution, run away as fast as you can.

If there's RG6 to every TV, go ZEEVEE. Works awesome in bars.

I think I'm going to tell them it's not possible. I may give them the option to swap out the SDI extenders for an M3B system and give them credit for the SDI pieces, but I would say that will still end up more than they want to spend right now.

Nailed it. If they don't want to spend the money to do it right, let someone else deal with the headache.

Give them a price for 3-4 TVs using M3B.
