Hi guys , quick question for you,if you share CD player with two receivers , how do you control power ?? I do not like that idea leave it on all the time. Is out there some switch box for 120 V ?? This CD player has no stand by - only on and off like is usual.
Thank you for help Robert

You will need a voltage controlled power strip, 2 12v transformers and 2 diodes.
Attach the cd player to the power strip. Attach the transformers to each of the receiver's switched outlets. Attach each of the diodes to the -12v leg of each transformer. connect the output of each diode to to the power stip. If either receiver is on the CD is on. If both receivers are off the CD is off. The diodes stop the flow of voltage from one transformer into the other.

Or purchase on Crestron system and write logic that closes a relay that turns on the power strip if either receiver is on and opens it when both are off.

Thank you Alan for this idea , I figured out connection with two relays (120V) but I like more your "low voltage idea" . I did not want to deal with "do it yourself" product , because it takes time to do it nice - find nice box for it.... , but this is way , how to do it easy and quick. Thank you again - Robert

Monster Power has a few units that have double triggers - one 12V and one 110V. I have hooked these both up (one from each) with success.

You can use a Russound ACT-1 110VAC 12volt triggered outlet. Niles and Xantech also have their equivalent. Use this premade UL listed product with two 12volt wall warts with a diode in series with each transformer connected to the ACT-1 12v in. Each receiver will trip the outlet and turn on the CD player. You are correct to use a premade product to cover your ass in case of a insurance dispute with a fire.

GotGame, what Alan was referring to as relays are the relays in a Crestron controller either controlling a contact closure activated AC power switch or driving slave relays that do the same. I don't think he was advocating some jury rigged AC switch. Actually, most decent midrange and higher receivers now have built in 12v triggers that would, with a couple of diodes, l contol the power strip.
