This is a really worthwhile topic and I'll be using this information. Thanks for bringing it up!

Then there's this: [Link: idjnow.com]

idjnow? That reminds me of the joke "Used to be I couldn't spell injeneer but now I are one." But I actually cracked up when I read
DN-202WR is a wireless audio receiver with professional-grade audio inputs. In conjunction with the DN-202WT wireless audio transmitter, this lets you add wireless audio transmission to your audio system—reducing cables and clutter without reducing sound quality.

It's nice to know the receiver has inputs. Too many receivers only have outputs, since it's their job to provide a signal OUT to something else.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

SB,
What did you end up using??

I actually have two situations needing something wireless.
One guy has a Cochlear implant and it has a built in bluetooth receiver. I'm guessing it'd have the delay that you're talking about.
The other client has some type of hearing aid and wants headphones to use at the same time the avr speakers are on, like your situation.
