I'm supposed to try to do this for an ELDO LED Lineardrive 720D Link below
[Link: eldoled.com]

Is there a certain brand of converter with an existing URC TC Driver? If not, I should be able to make one with the right documentation.

Second question is what do I need doc wise from the manufacturer and what do I need to know about the protocol to pull this off?

I know, run, don't walk away from this right? I was left out of the loop on this from the beginning now asked to do this!

I am sure someone here can help you but...

I would tell them "We are using URC Total Control. I need a document that shows me addresses/ID's/Load names (whatever else) and a copy of the control protocol".

Once you have that you can move forward trying to figure out your end of it. If they cant provide that then IMO you need to talk with the client and explain that

A.You dont understand the system and cant reverse engineer their work for them

Or

B.You dont understand the system but you are willing to learn how to get their work done for them...provided that the client is willing to pay for your on-site education.

If you just jump into this you will end up miserable, working for free and end up with a client whos pissed off at you because you took too long and because its not working the way they expected etc etc. They will forget that you tried to do them a favor and it will all be your fault if it doesn't go smoothly.

you can use an ethernet to DMX adapter to make this work.

I use the Enttec ODE to control underwater lights via DMX on our yachts.

If you only need simple color changing, it works well.  If you want it to fade from color to color in a loop, then I'm not sure how you would accomplish that without writing a custom TCL module.

Great thanks. Basic color changing should work. Are you using URC into the Enntec and is there an existing IP driver for it in the database?

I am using Total Control.  I have a few different drivers I made depending on how many channels of DMX are needed.  I can easily tweak it for you.

There are four banks with four colors each. Does that mean 16 channels?

You mean there are 4 of the ELDO light drivers and you are using all four color connections on them?  If so, then yes, that would be 16 channels assuming you have the ELDO drivers set to different addresses.

Gotcha. Although no one has said anything yet I know there are two other fiber optic light engines in the house with XLR connectors plugged in so I assume this is some more DMX stuff and I should probably go ahead and make provisions for it. Are they also going to have four channels you think? Next week I can provide models.

Do you have this TC file available?
