Disco'ed and too bad.

Switched speakers AND the subwoofer from AVR to Sonos. Audio sensing or 12v trigger. What else is out there?

Nothing I have in a single box solution. Certainly speaker level switchers triggered by either source or voltage exist from Niles and Russound, and probably Sonance. The line level product will be a challenge, and I could see several boxes in place of the sas-1 potentially.

Oh, ugg, I use this for Sonos integration too. This scheme is seamless for the operator. This must be some sort of conspiracy.

Did you verify this with Niles or told so by a distributor? They are known to say such things if not available or need minimum orders.
If triggering by voltage you could do it with relays easy enough.

Speakercraft has a line level switch box as well as a speaker level switch box. You would have to use 1 of each for speaekrs and a sub. They are audio sense only though.

SpeakerCraft SL-One & LL-One.

The good news is they are very inexpensive and have been very reliable for me over the years.

Is there a speaker level switcher that can be used, where you'd then use the speaker level inputs of the subwoofer? That would sure simplify your switching needs.

I think that most of us, purists that we are, don't ever want to use speaker level inputs. Let me just say I could argue that it won't hurt unless your main power amp is total crap. Give it a try and see if you can tell any difference.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Sorry about not responding sooner, but I just got back from vacation.

Sonance does not offer a comparable auto-switching speaker selector with the features and performance of that higher-end Niles model.

The AL2 will auto-switch between two line-level sources.

The AS2 and AS2S will auto-switch one or two pair of speakers between 2 power amplifiers'.

The new line of Sonamp DSP models will auto-switch between inputs (DSP8-130), but this is a much more expensive way to do what you want.

Fred can order from Niles while a few are still in the CA warehouse... 79 left at last count.

I was late finding out these were discontinued or I would have stocked up on every one I could find. We've used many in the past as with others, integrating a Sonos amp in a 5.1 system. Has anyone found a comparable product? I've used some niles SPK-1's as well but this doesn't incorporate the sub.

While they (someone, ANYONE) is at it, please make a muting volume control.

All of the recent Volume controls that I've seen have a mute position. Do you mean a mute that is available to an external control system?

At one point Xantech had an in-wall speaker volume control with an IR mute. Currently, I'm not sure what Xantech is doing. Mostly it seems like they are burning off old inventory. Their website offers a 2015 catalog.

Niles had their MVC-100, which used a 12VDC connection to activate the muting circuit. It could be set to normally muted/normally unmuted. For anyone who wants to sleep when another person wants to use the system without changing to a fully-automated system, these are great. It's also great when outdoor speakers are used- they stay off until needed.

The problem seemed to be that nobody at AV distributors bothered to mention them and some didn't know what they did or why they would be a good idea.
