We sell a massive amount of ABR4400s to dealers and rarely run into issues.

PS the new 5.0.1 firmware is great. Changes the lay out, has bug fixes and some other features.

Where can I find this new firmware? Luxul's site? Nope. Dealer portal? Did not see anything there either. Hook me up.

I have probably 50 4400's in the field with no problems. I am wondering if the issues people are having is with the DHCP connection to the modem....

Do you know the solution to the DHCP issue you might share?

None of the Luxul routers have WAN<>LAN routing throughput above 500Mbs, much less the 1Gbs speeds that many of the ISPs in our area are now offering. Kind of makes them useless for our purposes. The only two Luxul products we've used in the last year both had issues with randomly defaulting their settings once or twice a month (XWR-600/-1750). The feature sets are also pathetic for the price. Never again.

What router do you use for gigabit ISP? They are just starting to offer that kind of speed here and it is only a matter of time before I get a call about it. I imagine in the next 2-3 years, it will become more and more common, even with the popular ones here....Luxul, Araknis, Pakedge, etc.

We have pretty much switched over to the Araknis routers, mainly for OVRC. They supposedly use the same hardware board. So different firmware basically. And the Araknis are so much smaller. And they are easier to mount on a wall/in a can. I have already had a dead power transformer on one though. Yikes. A Snap product with a power cord and.....the power cord died. Who woulda thunk?

Hi Audiophiliac,

Thanks for your support of Araknis! Sorry for any issues you had with the power supply. We build them to withstand 15KV ESD (most IT products are only rated to 8KV) and 2.5KV Surge (most IT is 1KV). Our verified fail rate is under one half of a percent with an incredible amount going into the field each month. This is a very mature platform that is completely unrelated to Luxul’s product in hardware and software. Please feel free to contact me directly with any needs. 704-749-4808 mobile.

Well.... I got an RMA to mail it back and swap it for another. Bummer for the client who will be without his router for a week and a half but better then no resolution. Luxul also reached out about this thread. Hopefully a new router corrects this issue. I sent what I could capture via the logs etc but the logs themselves would save blank most of the time. Another bug I guess. I just kept losing hardwired and wireless yet over the wan I could still vpn. Odd.

So ultimately no clue other then some glitch when I went to new firmware.

You're leaving a client without internet access (and presumably LAN) for a week and a half? You've got some big balls. Why not put a loaner unit in?

@gerard143

I was experiencing daily internet drops on my ABR-4400 so I created a thread a few weeks back

[Link: remotecentral.com].

Turns out most of my issues seem to have been on the ISP side of the equation. I do think the luxul router is buggy and I am curious if the updated firmware 5.0.1 would help it out.

I have experienced the memory issues and the power drop re-connect issue. In all cases a reboot resolves the issue.

Anyone got a link to the 5.0.1 firmware they can share?

Thanks

until last year, all we used was Luxul. we had all possible problems you can call, and only one thing fixed our problems. Not tech support, not firmware updates: Moving to Ubiquiti / Unifi.
Unifi has absolutely no support. their chat support SUCKS. all they do is send you a youtube link for a video that some guy made about how to configure their stuff. but once you get the ABCs and setup you network, forget it. it will work forever

I'm still facing issues. Luxul tried to be helpful and offered an RMA. Definitely tried to make good on their end which is great. Customer service was good I have to give them that. It's crazy my luck but unfortunately the new the new router won't pull a Wan IP at all. Internet no problem off the modem itself, internet no problem off another router. Internet at the luxul no go. Not a cabling issue from modem to luxul. Odd. I'm guessing unit I got as a replacement from Wave is defective. Who knows if it might have been open box. It didn't look it but maybe. Has the newest firmware which also was problematic on the old one. Didn't even bother trying to revert to an older version. That older version still had an issue where nat loopback wouldn't work anyways and couldn't remote admin.

So client is unhappy.
Weighing my options. For now giving this 1750 on one last shot. Luxul going to send me another one straight from them. With any luck things will be good now. I have to applaud them for stepping up and working with me on this. Luxul has an xwr-3100 coming out that looks nice for a desktop router but its not avail [Link: luxul.com]

I was Debating tossing an amplifi mesh setup from ubiquiti as a replacement. I'd love toss a wireless controller in with about 3 hardwired access points in there but client is not interested in the investment for the hardware and running cabling. The amplifi stuff seems to review well with a pretty decent range so it might be a good fit for this specific client but i'm gonna give it one last go around first.

-update. Luxul has been great with trying to work with me. Still having the odd issue where internal network goes down after a few hours. Reverting to 4.0.6 firmware to fix for now. Ultimately since luxul really stepped up to the plate I decided I will go with xwr-3100 for client on release and an xap-1240 outdoor access point as well to increase coverage.
