Been trying to call for half a week. Every number you call is a fast busy tone.

Nothing but nightmare trying to get firmware to flash on a [Link: luxul.com] , finally got it to flash on attempt 13. It was "such a big firmware update" that it wipes almost all your config. i never would have updated but NAT loopback would not work on the old firmware and I needed it.

So reenter config.....
Then it was stuck ignoring all configuration and defaulting to a network with ssid openwrt. A hard reset, luxul default networks show up which was a good sign. Reenter config again and it finally took config.

Now its dropping the internet connection daily.

I'm afraid calling them is going to be a waste of my time. But what can you do. My guess a firmware bug and it's not like they are going to release a firmware revision on the spot. Maybe 6 months from now lol but maybe it's something more minor. Maybe that can resolve whatever the issues is. I'll put some faith in them before I walk away from the brand but man that firmware update was such a cluster.

So there is my vent. Anyone else an unhappy luxul camper.

Funny how that works. When you call and call and call and chat and chat and the publicly shame a company. Then they finally answer a call/chat.

Their APs and controllers are nice.... I wouldn't touch their routers with a 30ft pole

New AP's, controller and POE managed switches are top notch. The biggest issue with the 4400 router is buggy firmware. There are quite a few problems that Luxul is fully aware of, yet they have not released an update since last year.
For example - after power outage router losses ISP connectivity. I was able to create workaround by utilizing WattBox power sequencing feature and delaying router "PowerON" by 180 sec. after powering modem . There is also a known issue with VPN connectivity .
I have called their tech support at least four months ago , they said new firmware will be released within two weeks ( I guess an ex-RTI emloyee :) ) , nothing so far , very aggravating .......

May have been an issue with being recently acquired. Reached them pretty quickly via chat and phone yesterday.

Apparently they are using their own equipment to run their phone and internet network? Could be very telling since it not been working. :)

I am getting some kind of memory creep issue i notice. It must lock up when it hits 100%.

On a reboot we are at 41% usage. But it slowly counts up and up. With 15 min uptime we are at 46%. 3 hrs we are at 89%.

Interesting. For the longest time everyone used to say "their routers and switches are fine, but their wireless is shit!"

Dont know if this is helpful but my SOP for firmware is

Backup config
Flash new firmware
Verify firmware
Factory reset
Upload config and test

I experienced a 4400 via another integrator and it was flaky. I tried to add a dhcp reservation and the wan connection crashed! Luck I could config static IP as a work around.

Only ever installed one of their 4400 routers and it has been slowly locking up more and more often to the point that it is now at least once a day that it needs to be rebooted. Going to replace it and have fun with a sledgehammer afterwards.

I would be interested in knowing why some people have sh!++y luck with these routers and other (myself included) have had zero issues with them. I like to blame it on environmental phenomena. Same reason others have had 100% failure rate with certain AV receivers, while others have had 0% failure rate with the same receivers. It has got to be something in the air where you live.

We have pretty much switched over to the Araknis routers, mainly for OVRC. They supposedly use the same hardware board. So different firmware basically. And the Araknis are so much smaller. And they are easier to mount on a wall/in a can. I have already had a dead power transformer on one though. Yikes. A Snap product with a power cord and.....the power cord died. Who woulda thunk?

I have probably 50 4400's in the field with no problems. I am wondering if the issues people are having is with the DHCP connection to the modem....

I probably got 15 or so out there and no issues other than lightning related.
