For myself i would get an AVR to handle the HDMI switching thinking that in the future i would want to add speakers. For your clients...if you sell them a cheap AVR it will be difficult to sell them a good AVR (because they already have one and "why didnt you sell me a good one the first time" etc) when they call you for speakers...
So for that reason get them an HDMI switch.
